Baggy Pants Lead To Football Player’s Arrest

But, Miked, Jesus was Jewish.

Sorry. Couldn't resist.

Yes, and thats the sarcasm inherent in my statement and the smileys afterwards. Was being lighthearted in my wondering why anyone would even care what religion someone is or isnt.

Am I the only one who sees this as a safety issue? This isn't as simple as wearing a t-shirt with a slogan that may be offensive to some - it's a matter of wearing an article of clothing in a manner completely counter to it's design and which interferes with the normal bipedal functionality of a human being. Yeah I think it looks absolutely ridiculous, but I am more concerned about having to evac a burning airframe behind one of these idiots who have to use one free hand to hang onto their pants while waddling like Morticia Addams toward to emergency exit.

In that situation, I doubt that he'd be moving any faster than most of the other passengers. With a Boeing 737, for instance, you've got six seats abreast with one row in between. Toss in some smoke, confusion, panic, and possible injuries, and you can see how the process might get slowed down a little. Oh, and don't forget about the people that are holding everyone up by trying to grab their carry-on stuff....

"Hi. Yeah, uh... I think there might be a problem. I dunno, there's this little thing called 'our airplane is on fire.' Oh, you've heard of this? Yeah, I wouldn't worry too much about it except, uh... GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE, YOU IDIOT!"

:D

Video from the incident.

This captain very likely made a huge mistake.

I think there is too much knee jerk reaction out there on this thread to admit maybe, perhaps a mistake was made. I had to put in ear plugs to hear it, but it seems like he was pretty calm and reasonable there. Sounds like a PFC address a Major General. I almost got sir seasick.
Some lounge pants were involved. hmmm I better issue a recall for all the sets of urban lounge pants we use to sell... Danger of getting arrested

Lord I hope so. The guy is NCAA division 1 defensive back. I am sure all that running around in the secondary wouldn't slow his exit from the plane. Heck who knows he might even help out one of those folks who we call for wheelchairs on the in range message.

Exactly, and the captain still booted him.

Not a good move to kick somebody off that refers to you as "sir" when you claim they're being disruptive.
I would say he probably did something MUCH worse before the video started. It's like the kids in school when they KNOW they were bad and are going to be punished saying, "I love you, teacher". They think they can get out of it by sounding nice now. The deed has already been done. If you don't want to stand on the fence, don't hit people. Saying nice things isn't going to get you off. Same as not listening BEFORE the police show up doesn't mean being nice WHEN they show up will get you off.

If I were a betting man I'd guess that the Captain was standing behind his crew and, like amjon said, the outcome may have been determined well before this video was shot. Sometimes people do things that have consequences.

Just shooting in the dark...

And once you make up your mind on a consequence, you stick with it. No matter how "nice" they appear afterward. He may get worse if he thinks he got away with it while in flight.

As long as I say "sir" I can yell bomb, kick the seat in front of me, pound on the cockpit door, etc.

Good to know.

Sure. You know what would be full of awesomeness? A football game where the payers are wearing their pants belted around their knees. (cue the carnival music)
