I should also further clarify exactly what I'm trying to say.
We give up reasonable arguments and rational thought in favor of formalized group beat downs around here with people that we've decided are "unacceptables." We always have. In fact I've been the one leading the charge in many cases.
Maybe I've grown up enough, or pulled my head out of my butt enough, or something enough to realize how stupid it is and that instead of trying to justify it to ourselves, we'd do better to say, "You know, if somebody I liked said this, I'd probably nod my head in response to their enlightened thinking, but because I dislike this person, I'm going to blow everything they say out of proportion and be as unreasonable as possible while epicly flouncing about the horrible nature of their ghastly acts that make Hitler look like a school yard bully."
Maybe this is what happens with the internet. Hell, maybe this is how people simply treat each other, I'm not really sure.
But it's not acceptable. Calling a scab a scab and denying them further opportunities to hurt us (a job/jumpesat), but decrying one of our own, one of the guys that is actually taking the time and the abuse to step up little more than a thug because we want to make a point online about how horrible we think they are? That's unacceptable.
We're better than that as a community.
