Hawaiian looking for a dispacther HNL anyone

Let's see if you'd enjoy being really broke and basically being a VFR dispatcher. Go for it!!!

Why do you think they are always #1 for on-time performance? Because 90% of the time their destinations are VFR.

Yes I know there is more to it for the ETOPS flights but those inter Hawaiin runs.....

Starting pay is worse than other US majors and the cost of living is in the stratosphere.

So there you have it.

Will they be true professionals and pay for my hotel and ticket to interview?

I am throwing my name in the pile. Why not. If you are lucky enough to get an interview with a bigger airline the experience of that has to be worth the trip out there.

COL in hawaii is what you make of it. The reason COL is so high to most people is because a 600 dollar room in the states is close to 1200 in HI. You just gotta get used to sleeping and eating in the same place to pay mainland rent.

If one was really adventerous and stupid, find a crashpad and then live on the west coast!

I bet that idea has not been lost on a few. I can't imagine the logistics involved in trying to make it work. Commuting degrades quality of life, fast. I can't imagine they'd hire anyone who knowingly intended to try that.

Craziest pilot commute I ever saw was a KLM pilot based in AMS I used to see when I commuted out of PBI. He lives in Stuart, FL. He did not have access to the cockpit jumpseat on the U.S. legs either.
Craziest dispatcher commute I ever saw was a gentlemen who lived in an RV. At least he didn't have to go to the airport.

When I worked at ATA - we had a guy that commuted to IND from Hawaii. He did that for about 6 months. The only bright side if there is/was one was that it was a direct flight. Only 1 stop.

Studio apartment rentals in the area start at around $1200 a month. 2 bedrooms can be had for around $1800 a month. Oh, and if you decide not to live in Burlingame, San Fran or San Meteo, you get to commute across the bay. Weee!
