Yer on Gard! Guard Police revisited...

Guard police i guess as you call them is just as annoying as the calls on guard. A simple "on guard" gets the point across. We as ATC have the guard on the loudspeaker, and your constant bickering back and forth after someone makes a guard call, then wise ass remarks and all that follows, just blares through our loudspeakers and makes it difficult to do our job. We typically on our sector are working 2 frequencies, when it gets busy and we are still not split we will put one of them on loudspeaker, so we can hear both frequencies (one in the ear). Now cue up some tards on guard and all I hear is a mashing of sounds. Not to mention, while this is going on 9 times out of 10 my clearances are coming back with a "say again someone was chatting on guard". It is annoying and dumb.

Whenever someone starts yammering on guard, by accident, I'll just turn off the frequency for a few moments.

Some guys get some perverse joy out of screaming "You're on guard!" and what kills me is that 9 times of out 10, I'm in a position where I didn't even hear the initial transmission but not everyone within VHF range is stepping on one another to bark "YUUUUUUR ON GAAARRRRRD" which is actually.... worse and more distracting.

Reminds me of flying around the pattern in PRC when I was at ERAU when it was all about reporting the blocked transmission. "block".... "blocked..." "squawk!" "blocked", shut up already dingleberry, you're doing the blocking now! :)

"on guard" isnt necessary 99% of the time. Takes one transmission and then "oh.... one beer!" for most people.

The dingleberries that keep going might require an "on guard," but that's only for repeat offenders.

Not sure what is necessary for guard trolls like myself... I am your worst nightmare. :D

Heard a guy obviously teaching spins on day on 22.8.. It was awesome.. I guess he just grabbed a hAndful of whatever and started talking..

Same here, but this was a landing, and I don't think it was a good one. Sounded like this, "Ok now ease the power back, roundout, roundout, roundout, FLARE, FLARE, FLARE"
