No Instrument Rating

Sometimes you're going to have to grow thick skin when posting on here. Maybe next time explain this in the first post, because I'll be honest, that was a pretty odd/ridiculous question just simply asked the way it was. Waiting until the 17th post to explain that question isn't really fair to some of the seasoned professionals who answered the way they did. They were all probably just messing with you anyways. No harm, no foul......

How so? I asked a question and than assumptions started flying...i had to reword it to take the focus off me cause people were assuming that i was asking on my behalf. Be nice if people conduct themselves online the same way they would if the person was in front of them.

It would be nice.

I think the key word there is online. When online, there is a lot of room to misinterpret stuff. It seems as though you asked the question, and almost everyone read it the same way. I personally thought you were asking for yourself, but wasn't sure if you possibly had some restriction and was curious to find out what that could be.

You honestly don't see how asking if you can fly a G-V without an instrument rating, might be interpreted as a rather goofy question? I would bet less than 5 people ever have pulled that off. Maybe less than 1.....

I'm just giving you a pointer. Some questions are pretty straight forward, this one was an oddity. Don't get so offended.

In all seriousness, and in alignment with your question, I can't imagine what the insurance would be like for anyone acting as an SIC if they didn't have an instrument rating in that aircraft. Stratospheric comes to mind. Legal feasibility is one thing (I can go fly certain commercial passenger turbine operations for hire right now - I'm 'qualified' under 61 and 91) but insurance and the pure wisdom and safety of it is another.

The regulations in this area are in many ways deficient, and the insurance industry is becoming the primary regulator in business aviation - at least in terms of flight crewmember qualifications.

Holding a grudge doesn't exactly make you any better. :)

I'm pretty sure that most people, including TwoTwoLeft, would agree that the underwear comment and overall attitude in that post were rather unnecessary. If you're still hung up about it, ignoring that person, from this point on, wouldn't be too difficult of a task. There isn't really much else that you can do about that post that would yield a good outcome.

It would be a different story if they were following you around on the forum and posting those kind of replies to every post that you made. Seeing as how that isn't the case, I'd probably try to ease up a little (I know that this isn't something that you want to hear, especially when you're frustrated, but it's true).

Hey, do what you want, man. If you think that it will somehow make you feel better by trying to entice TwoTwoLeft into some kind of argument with your posts (such as the one that I just quoted) and subsequently drag this site down with the rest of the "other" sites with all of the arguments, then go for it. There are people that will take care of that. Just let me know, if you're going to do something like this, so that I can get the popcorn ready. :D

He is type rated in a G-V with no instrument rating? Sounds like BS to me. He has all of his certs but no instrument rating? So he has his...

That just sounds a little weird. Especially with the type ratings. Did you not pass your instrument at ATP?

As previously mentioned, a pilot who holds an ATP doesn't have a separate instrument rating listed.
