How much does a real P-51 or Spitfire or something cost? A few mil? Not that I'm in a position to buy one or anything....
They do not sell a kit - that is what they say for building it. Considering it is a tube and wood construction I can not see why it would be hugely expensive - the thunder mustang full built was $300 which is a racing 75% version of the mustang.
A restored P-51 is over a million.

That's kinda cool. Someday, when I'm an idle rich dude, I too can have my own replica WWII fighter.
That way, when I build an F-4U and put a PT-6 in the front of it, nobody can claim I sullied an original.
Seriously though- somebody call me when they start turning out F-8 Crusader kits. That'd be the shizzle.

What is your fascination with a Corsair with a PT6? You would take one of the most beautiful killing machines of all time and ruin the looks with a Turbine? You would take one of the great sounds of all time and replace it with a Turbine? This isn't the first time that you've mentioned this...you've done it a lot. I'm going to have to intervene or something. That Laughner guy was acting all whacko too but nobody really intervened. Your incessant bleeting to put a PT6 on a Corsair clearly shows that you are not sane and are deeply troubled. I'll be notifying the authorities, your airline, and Chuck Norris. Good Day sir!
I remember hearing pretty recently that they were going to start manufacturing the kits again.I haven't seen a Thunder Mustang sold for under $500k (that was completed). Thunder Mustang was a great concept. Some guys in Lawrence, KS made a run at taking that design over with assistance from the Thunder Builders Group. They eventually had to drop their bid, but I went to their hanger and they were building one. Really nice guys. I believe the kit was around $250k (in 2002 when I saw these guys).
where's the video?

I would love an A-4 (my old man turned wrenches on those)
