Airport FOD inspections
I really wanted to post that....I have never before heard that a Concorde departure required a FOD inspection. I watched a pretty extensive PBS (???) special in which one investigator came up with the conclusion that the FOD made the situation worse, but that the real causes were missing spacers, an overweight airplane, a takeoff on a runway not favoring the wind, and maybe some more. Corroborating this was 2 pilots in two separate airplanes who saw the gear smoking before the point in the runway where the FOD was(one later changed his story). But I dont remember hearing about required runway inspections.
IF every Concorde departure required a runway inspection, and this was one where they didnt do it, it is very eerie that the FOD showed up on this departure.
And I'm surprised we dont see more runway inspections at airports. I've seen them more at GA fields than big international airports.
That is all.
