Anybody work for the NTSB or know somebody who does? I've always been interested in what a day in the life is like for one of these guys. Seems like an extremely difficult field to get into as well.

Interned there while I was in college. Excellent experience, would highly recommend it to everyone. You spend a ton of time on the phone. A ton of time doing paperwork, but when you go in the field with them you get exposed to ALOT of very interesting things.

I also know a couple former, and current, investigators. There is a great deal of tedium involved in the work. Although, I know the NTSB is trying to reduce their operating costs so a great deal of the work is done from home. So, all in all, it's not too shabby of a job.
Do you know what their backgrounds were?
