New Hire at Ameriflight

You're not in indoc to be taught anything. Only there to be told what you should already know. I don't know if it is still on his web site, but try Austincollins.com Great basic info.
Not quite.

INDOC covers the GOM/OpsManual and the OpSpecs. These vary from company to company, by definition, you shouldn't know it if you're new to the company. Indeed, if Indoc is on the first day, chances are you wouldn't even have had a chance to look over your materials before you jump right into them. Additionally, if Ameriflight/Martinaire/Keylime/FlightExpress is your first 135 operation, you probably don't know, nor were ever required to know anything more than the basics of 135 (what you studied in the hotel room the night before), or in other words, 135 is going to be a learning experience for you too and will be covered slightly during basic indoc (as a reference for the GOM and OpSpecs).

INDOC is all about learning, that doesn't mean you should be prepared, but all you do for all of groundschool is learn. Whether you're familiar everything being presented or not, you'll be learning something.

Rumor is late Jan early Feb...I'm sure the new instructor will be able to keep the trainees attentions a little longer, but that is a rumor too..

Newer rumor is that the attention getter is going to do ATC. Who are all the PHX folks on here anyway? I just came back to PHX and I do the LAX run

Thanks to all the responses from everyone, I do appreciate it. This is my first 135 gig and I've been going over the regs and indoc training they have sent us before getting to class. I'm sure I will be studying hard just to make sure that I don't have to come back to my school with my tail between my legs asking for my job back. :)

For those that were interested, my times were
1710TT
203 Multi

I've been instructing since I got out of training so this is my first job after CFI'ing.

If you can get from one of the many AMF peeps here the limitations and memory items I would memorize those ahead of time, since 100% you will need to get them memorized. It just takes one less thing you have to do during groundschool out of the picture.

Get ahead of the game by going out and practicing flows in a Chieftain after class during that first week of indoc. When you start week 2 and you get in the sim you will be way ahead of the curve and you can just fly the plane.

4 years later ... Lights Ice protection fuel pumps transponder radar cowl flaps runway items checklist.... is still stuck in my head

Close! Replace radar with mixtures and you're good.

Well a few of the chieftans had radars and strike finders.:D

Lies.

I never saw one.

Ever.

EEEEEEEEEEEEVER.

I *heard* about a Chieftain up in Oakland with radar, but I also heard it didn't work.

Radar on a Chieftain was a lie perpetrated by Bob to make new trainees feel better about flying through...well, nothing really, mostly because of where 90% of where the Chieftains were based.

Well you never left the mothership. The worlds a strange place outside of the mothership. People actually walk around without ties. At one point some even didn't wear a the pilot shirt. Just polo shirts and slacks. Some believe that this mystical place doesn't exist. But I've seen it many many moons ago.

oooooohhhh ahhhhhhh.:D

Nein nein nein nein nein nein nein!!!

:)

First week was good. I passed my test with a high grade so that was really good. I have aircraft systems/CPT/Sim this week so ramping up for that. The material wasn't too difficult but then again I did do a lot of studying. Looking forward to getting into an aircraft though.

Things are usually pretty cool, then most guys get their butts handed to them for the first sim or two. Then things settle down and and things are cool until you hit the airplane. Then they REALLY get their butts handed to them.

After maybe 2 flights things are cool again, and you're on your way.
