Thanks, I'll have my resume on the way in the next few mins.

Their website says they are still hiring, any info as to if they are done? I might give them a call as well. I am brand new instructor with 300 hrs nearly all Cessna time, no glass cockpit. I am applying anyway but does anyone think I am wasting my time and theirs?

US Flight Academy just bought Wright Flyers Aviation in Hondo, TX. So that gives them another facility, many more 172's, and about 60 or so new Chinese students.

I wish USFA success with that purchase. And also thanks for taking over those students since it was a shame how they were left without much notice of the previous school having troubles.

On that note, a couple questions.

What is the pay and benefits at USFA?

And is it more of a formal academy structure or more of an one-on-one FBO structure when it comes to teaching?

Is USFA also acquiring the Wright Flyers CFI's who all lost their jobs with little to no notice?

Do believe try are still hiring. I think that you should definately applies they have new hires (including me) with less time than that. Just throw it in there and see what happens...
Good luck

Thanks a lot. I had sent in the resume soon after. I might follow sometime next week. Any idea about their pay and the kind of times you can expect?

Since the time I posted this thread, I worked at USFA and have left. USFA will continue on, and if you want to make $15/hour working 60+ hours a week and being paid for 30 then you are their kind of person. If you like hard work, lots of hours, and a full schedule USFA is for you.

I had an experience that was less than desirable, and I would like to talk with those who have as well.

well, I haven't worked there, but I have applied twice now and still hav en't heard anything so I'm not sure about all that.

Dear MURedhawk,

What do you mean when you say they want you to work the students? Are they expecting you to make the students finish up quickly or just get the most hours out of them be it by delaying their sign-offs?

Can you explain what you mean? Do they pay $15/hr for the 60+ you work which in your opinion is to little or do they somehow justify paying only half of that time you work? Sounds like you get a lot of flying hours which is good, but still I'll draw a line as to how much someone can take advantage of the other.

All the best to you!

I mean that there will be times when you produce revenue for the company and you will not be able to charge the time you really spent to do the job right.

Currently you work 6 days a week and if weather prevents you from flying one day then that day counts as your day off. Common policy maybe, but I have a family and when I'm gone all the time and then I have to ruin a scheduled day with the wife and kid, I lose support from the people I need it the most.

Everyones situation is different. This work may be very desirable to someone in a different situation as myself.

What I mean is that you can expect to be expected to push your students hard. Really you should be doing it yourself, the more you fly with them the more you get paid... Of course there are the pains and hardships of being here for long hours and not getting paid for all of them but it is what it is. It's a work ethic thing really...

(not trying to talk bad about anyone, this job isn't for everyone.)

Hey all,

Just wanted to quick update everyone that I got the job here in Denton at USFA and so far I really like it! Also I heard they are looking to hire a few more here and a handful more down in Hondo, TX near San Antonio, so if anyone is looking I would strongly recommend applying soon and/or calling!

Thanks to all for posting this and helping me. Another guy hired thanks to Jetcareers forums :D
