Skywest Hiring?

How many more pages could I have had you guys going for? At least 5. Fools.

Hm. Who's the fool here? I'd say, joking or not, the fool is the one showcasing such a pull-up-the-ladder attitude towards fellow pilots. I'd also think that it could do more harm than good; some things are easy to remember.

Exactly. I cant believe someone had the nerve to use the term "career expectations," when discussing two regionals.
Why can't you believe it? Some of us came to the party late (career-changers), and we don't have 30-40 years of 121 flying ahead of us.

2 classes are scheduled for September. 20 pilots each for the Brasilia and the slots will be offered to UAL furloughees first. Transition classes to the jet will be offered to current Bro pilots and up to 80 upgrades will be possible by November.

Looks like my friend got the job. He interviewed with a few other people. They have not given him a class date yet they said expect sometime in September. Supposedly big things are on the horizon is what they told him so hopefully things are on their way up!

The career expectations at most regionals are the same. Domestic flying in a rj or turboprop. Majors not so much.

By career expectations I don't think he is only referring to type of equipment and destinations. Career expectations has a different meaning to different people. I personally have job security at the top of my list, then comes QOL(not commuting, getting good paying trips that allow max days off per month, etc)

A little over 1,400 :(

So lots to offer jobs to for a looong time, although I doubt too many really want to sit reserve on the Bro in FAT.

Ouch.

I just couldn't imagine "Making It," then getting tossed down to a company that is going to pay you 50-70% less over the next three to five years than what you were expecting. All while being anywhere from 30-40 years old.

Tough pill to swallow, but yeah - hopefully those guys had other skills or reserve / guard units to bum off of for the next few years.

Was he interviewed recently? What was his background? I had no idea they were interviewing now.... that's a pretty significant move considering there are already 100 or so in the hiring pool.

Well I disagree. Skywest is a much better regional to work for than the majority. Unless you had some internal rec, Skywest had much higher standards to get through than most. That's why there is a much higher percentage of guys here from EVERY other regional, than at anywhere else. Career expectations ARE different, thats why alot of guys gave up seniority at asa, etc. and now over here, or waited it out flying freight or cfi'ing a few extra years vs getting hired over the phone by Chuck to go and get bent over in bfe. The equipment may be the same, but the QOL is completely different. And since many of us will never be able to get to the top of the airline pyramid scheme, Skywest is a better place to get "stuck".
