Pinnacle Corp., buys Mesaba

notice how with skywest they want to get asa and express jet fully integrated within 12 months and have planned to agressively do so. Our guys have said that it will be 18 months before anything happens. Why, becuase we have a pilot contract that has been in effect since 1999 with no new TA in sight. All one has to do is look at the difference in management to see which one knows how to make things work. I am not saying that pinnacle didnt do a good thing by this aquisition, but they will find some way to probably mess it up by having all three groups pissed off at separate things. Get a clue!!!!!!

I have it on good authority Uncle Phil is very sorry for how he treated you all and just wants you all to forgive and forget.

I will never forgive nor forget the fiasco that this company allowed to happen today...

Let's just say there were a lot of really angry people this afternoon...

And it was all preventable!

There was a very messy 9E flight from YOW that came in late last night. Walked onto the plane and there were some very angry people staring me down. Hey I'm just here to deliver ice and water... leave me alone!

Not going to give any details, but from a passenger's point of view...

How would you feel if you sat in the airport at the gate for 3 hours past scheduled departure time and were told you were waiting on a crewmember to be able to go home. Crewmember arrives, and you board the airplane only to be told 5 minutes later that the flight cancelled...

Hmmm, had a VERY similar situation over on our side of the house a couple weeks ago. Only we were going to PWM.....end result was the same. Although the dog and pony show lasted much more than 5 minutes. First FO was removed to cover different trip. Next one they sent was illegal due to rest issues. Well, after the 4th FO, we were ready to go.....except now the FA's had timed out and the flight was cancelled. Good times!

Don't forget the Cokes. CA gets cranky if he doesn't get his caffeine in the mornings. If I'm every out of Coke in DTW, I know who to call. :)

Never made it to ECP...

Ended up with one deadhead, one flight, and one cancellation (due to duty time issues)...

Check your PMs for details...

Holy crap, dude. What a cluster, and you're right. Easily avoidable through either a) switching the DH b) getting a different FO.....assuming we HAD one. We were told MONTHS ago if we hired anyone for the summer, we'd have to furlough in the fall. Well, guess the wizards in the ivory tower are paying the high price of low overhead now, and we're the ones picking up the pieces.

No FOs... 0 available today in MEM and -5 for Friday :laff:

All that crap today for a whopping 2 1/2 hours of credit

Thing is, the situation cause not one, but at least 3 cancellations. The flight out (no crew), the flight back (no plane), and I was with a Detroit based CA who was transitioning back to DTW after his overnight.

We're apparently seriously down on the CA side, too. It's my day off, and my phone was ALREADY ringing at 7:30 am. And just to highlight a point.....he TIMED OUT and only got 2.5 hours of credit. And the senior guys say we don't want trip/duty rigs because they wreck QoL. Under ASA's contract, the credit would have been nearly twice what was credited here, and I'm sure Delta and the rest of the majors are gonna junk their rigs to regain QoL in the next negotiation cycle. The reason the senior guys don't want trip/duty rigs is because they MAY (and I double emphasize "MAY") go from 18 days off all the way down to 16 or 17 while the rest of the pilot group sees an improvement in either pay credit or productivity of schedules.

Exactly!

Glad to see 9L and 9 E are running the same. I'm on a 3hr delay because they can't find a CA or FA to cover my flight. I could have slept in this morning :-(

Why would trip and duty rigs reduce your days off? If anything they will increase them.

I'll take my 4 hour min day before a duty rig. Scheduling would have to purposely try to be less efficient with a duty rig. Plus nothing like picking up a turn out of open time where Im not even gone from my house(let alone on duty) for 3 hours and get paid for 6 hours due to the 4 hour min day.

Don't ask me, I agree with you. According to the senior guys, they think the company will just schedule to the "break even" point. So, instead of being able to 30/7 yourself in 4 days with multiple 10+ hour trips, they think we'll be doing 6 hour days and sitting in hotels more. If we did that, we'd have to hire about another 100 pilots since we don't have the staffing to switch to short duty days.

As for the min day, pretty sure that's what we're shooting for right now. As long as ready reserve is counted in that (since we're technically "on duty"), I'm good with it. Might stop them from doing those "high speed to overnight" conversions if you credited 8 hours for two legs.....

does 9E require you to have a flashlight in your flightcase and if so, whats the criteria. For example, at trans states they wanted us to basically have the 2x D cell mag light, and at Mesaba, just an equivalent.

It can be an equivalent. I have both just in case, but I've NEVER seen it enforced.

Ooooh. I know what to ask for next time we fly together. :)

I just have an equivalent LED flashlight. How this guy gets a D cell flash light in his bag with the LIDOs and the CFM is beyond me.
