Plane Crash in Pakistan

RIP ! Condolences to those who lost their loved ones. Its an unfortunate event. Sad day in Aviation. I have flown both airlines, and these airlines pride themselves with highly skilled pilots. :(

An approach to runway 30, 10,800ft long, 150ft wide. served with an ILS w/ about a 300ft min. Missed approach is to the southwest out the 240 radial. Turn left and climb to 9500ft. Field elevation is 1668' and MSA in that quadrant is 7700ft. Crash site is approx 7nm nw of airport with terrain/obstacles depicted as 2224' and 2208ft. ILS mins 1965' (309) and circling mins 2410ft at 135kts or 2510ft at 180kts.

Reports of previous aircraft missing the approach. Airblue missed due to ATC issuing go-around but no reason stated for ATC instructions. Wx at time of crash not significant. Winds 050 at 16.. slight tailwind.

Reports say Capt former PIA 747 driver. FO reportedly new with company and to airplane.

with in such a close proximity of the airport and mountains, they should have been getting vectored. It boggles me how can the veer off track and collide with the mountain. Unless they stalled the airplane, i would assume they are using AP in such kind of weather.

The terrain and airport location kind of remind me of the San Gabriel mountains and Burbank.

Impossible to stall an Airbus:D

Come out to NJC and over a few beers I will tell you about a time seating in a T7 jumpseat that the crew lost SA on the downwind on a VFR day(they both had no clue where the airport was).

I will have to take you on that offer. Nothing more amazing than aviation stories.
