Currently working at Cape Air, but I was at ExpressJet before that for about a year. I'm confident that if I didn't have that previous turbine experience, I wouldn't have been called for an interview. That was important to them.

Yes, all FOs on the 757/767 are PIC typed and qualified. I'm told the DC-10 FOs aren't, but I'm not sure why.

Thanks! And yep, you got it right on. As I said, the previous turbine time was essential to getting hired. I don't think they would have given me a shot without having proven myself by passing initial on another jet aircraft.

Nope, I'll be home based. I understand that LAS is super senior; I probably won't ever see it, but I'm fine with that. I don't want to live in LAS anyway. :D

As a home based pilot, I'll just sit reserve from home. When they call me, I just go to the airport I designate as my "home" (any airport...just has to have three airlines serving it), and pick up my ticket to wherever the assignment is.
 
That's great news! FYI, and I'm sure you've been told before, but by all accounts their training is serious and Santa Claus doesn't work there. So kickass and study hard.

Yep, but I've also been told that they lose very few people who actually put forth the honest effort to get it done. I'll be giving it 110% as always. :cool:

Honestly, the hardest training I've been through so far has been Cape Air. When I went through, anywhere between 30-50% weren't making it through training and IOE. I don't know how Omni training is (been hearing everything from "high washout rates" to "not a problem if you study"), but I'll do what I always do: Study hard, cooperate, and graduate. :)

I dont blame you. I'm moving out of this dump August 3rd. Vegas is a terrible place to live. Congrats again man! I hear good things about Omni.

You'll do fine. And soon enough you'll be competing with Dough for Good Stories from Around The Globe. Good to see someone who's gotten the dirty end doin good for themselves...aw I'm gettin all misty, gonna have to go kick the dog. ;)
 
This is freaking awesome news man. The 757/767 are amazing airplanes and I know you are going to have a blast. Keep us up to speed on how things are going. Good luck in training.

Will do, thanks. Hopefully this opens up a 9K slot for you. We need people yesterday with all the pilots bailing for greener pastures, taking recall, etc. Not sure how the nice people in HYA are planning on staffing the operation for the rest of the year. Actually, someone in HGR called out sick the other day, and crew sched actually called me on my day off to work the shift. The funny part was, I was on the hotel shuttle ride to the interview.

Thanks! Yep, rumor is they need another 30-40 pilots between now and the end of the year. They mentioned that there'd be one class per month, 8 in each class. Don't know anything beyond that.

I applied by sending my resume to a current line pilot, who then forwarded it to the 757 Fleet Manager.
 
Congrats man - and sorry I could never get you an answer regarding the jumpseat.

Perhaps as a heavy metal driver we now have space for you :)
