If an airplane is gliding 5 feet above the ground with full flaps extended, retracting the flaps will probably cause the airplane to sink in to the ground, .
Doesn't have to....it's a fun exercise to pop the flap lever up while in ground effect. A steady increase in AoA will keep you a foot above the runway as the flaps retract. It's a great demonstration that AoA and flap position are completely interchangeable, as long as you're above the clean stall speed. Your glide ratio will always be improved, although the closer to the ground you are, the better your technique needs to be.
