United Express off the runway - CYOW Ottawa

The ones CHQ had came from some Europe Defunct companies. They also did not have TRs due to weight cost per landing in Europe...THe 145s also had the brake assembly of a 135 on these models...Im assumiung this was 7-25 in YOW...A long landing, nothing worth a crap to stop with, standing water...yeah it could happen.

Yep. We've got a couple of those too, from defunct Crossair. No TRs. The first batch of 145s that we got all had TRs, unfortunately, they are all the under-performing EP models. The one that went off the runway today was delivered new in 2004 and doesn't have them. It definitely gets your adrenaline pumping landing in a snowstorm in Albany or Burlington, VT with no TRs...

No TR's!! Especially on a slick runway, yikes!
Sounds stupid, but I did not know that any US airline had airplanes w/o TR's WHEN it was an option. IMO TR's, are like airbags in a car, they should be required. (Yes I'm aware most air carriers calculate runway landing data as if no thrust reversers were used, but still. . . . ) Too bad so many airline pencil pushers think this way. I wonder how much money they will "save" if there are lawsuits for this incident. OK I'll stop ranting.

Glad everybody is OK.

The first few times I flew the Brasilia my most favorite thing about the experience was when we landed and I got to slap it into reverse. (That whole beta thing. :))

The ERJ does not need the reversers since it uses super duper heavy duty space age breaks. Or carbon breaks to be exact..

I've never had a problem with the particular runway in YOW, but I can see how it can be a problem during rain showers with the ungrooved runways. Now that I think about it, I do remember slipping and sliding around a little bit when it was covered with snow once.
