Flying a conventional geared aircraft highly increases your stick and rudder skills when you have low hours.

They do a great job of teaching you to "fly it to the blocks", and prevent the sloppy habits (I wasn't exempt - e.g.:not using proper wind correction on the ground, lack of proper rudder use) all of us get flying only spam cans.

I think he should have tried to land on top of that helicopter. That would have been interesting. In all seriousness....that guy is certifiably insane! I wasn't even doing that and it gave the famed "butt pucker" factor. I'm surprised that doesn't disrupt the lift on those gliders when he is sitting on the wing, etc........
 
I have yet to log any time in one. I'm sure once I log that .1 I'll be hooked, but until then...
 
I've only ever met two individuals that do not like taildraggers. I stay away from both of them.
 
I've only ridden in the right seat of jrh's 140... It was really cool. I'm sure if and when I get a tailwheel endorsement I'll be hooked like the rest of you tailwheel snobs coughwacocough

To be honest, I don't notice much difference between flying conventional and tricycle aircraft. Fly it down the runway and land it - other than flying taildraggers faster at touchdown to wheel land them, I don't do anything differently...

I just want to do it to see if it can be done in todays time. Like an aviation career with a 5.6 degree of difficulty.
 
I origianlly did not like them because they were made out to be a fire breathing dragon that only crusty old men could tame. Now they are the best out of everything to me. If I could buy any plane it would be the Cessna 180, but the Swift wins for best fun machine.
