Just got back from flying a 152 today... On the takeoff roll I passed through about 30 knots and the nose wheel started to shimmy violently enough to the point of almost losing directional control. I return, and am told that it was a technique error because I was not applying enough back pressure on the elevator and that I should just go out and try it again. While that might have been true, I refused, requested another plane which had no nose wheel problems and I accomplished the flight successfully. After I get back, the mechanic said the same thing about the elevator back pressure, and tries to bill me the .2 from the possibly faulty 152(He did not even test the nose wheel). I am open to criticism for sure as I am an extremely low time pilot, but I find it hard to believe that "I have just been doing all my takeoffs wrong since the time when I learned to fly". Am I wrong for refusing this plane? Also, has anybody encountered this type of problem?
