Delta, US Air alter slot swap

I'm actually a little surprised that DAL would be okay with giving some slots to AirTran, wouldn't that add more LGA-ATL competition? Unless, with the shuttle, DAL feels like they have enough capacity on that route that 5 AirTran slots wouldn't really affect them, I don't know.

I love it. The longer Delta continues to believe that we aren't a serious threat, the longer we have to encroach on their market share. Meanwhile, SWA's costs are going up, and they're becoming less competitive.

I wouldn't say passionate, I'd say angry. I'm passionate about flying, beer and hot women..and..maybe a little about Jeeps....but when it comes to government BS...I'm just flat out pissed off..And I feel helpless because there is nothing I can do about it. We now live in the United States of Corporate America. Hell, it's now so blatant we have that big eared fool squatting in the White House signing overtly socialist laws into effect that tell us "Pay! Or else...you're gonna pay more!!" Of course there were back alley deals! There always are with things like this..most of them probably skirt the boundaries of what is legal with a very thin line, many of them are outright criminal. You know how only a small percentage of drugs smuggled into this country are actually found...well...you as an intelligent thinking adult should be able to surmise that only a small percentage of corruption and manipulation of government by corporate interests ever comes into the public light. When in all likelihood, the government is just like the drug smugglers..they are so good at hiding their BS, they can do it right under the noses of the press, of the voters etc..that it has become the norm, not the exception. Do you really believe that the days of the "$100 hammer" have come and gone?

I do believe I'm done discussing this.

Hmm...I'd be surprised if SouthernJets really thinks Citrus isn't a threat! Shoot, B6 is a threat!

I surely would hope you all have a better plan for these slots then LGA-ATL..... The NY market is all about DAL/CAL.... Price to most not being an issue in the DAL Business market.... I think NY will become very loyal to DAL and I really hope Airtran hits up some new markets to bring new cities into NY instead of the same ones currently served..... After all this is exactly why the DOJ should have stayed out of the deal.

It was about DAL/USairways bringing new markets into both cities and thus being able to return to a profitable state.... It is not about having fare wars on routes that simply do not need them and thus drive the ticket price even further down.... But I think we are going to see a lot more of the:

MCO-LGA
ATL-LGA
BWI-LGA
DCA-MCO
DCA-PHX

Which at the end does not expand new markets into these cities.... Thus the SAV, BHM, TLH and others having new service into DCA may not happen.... :(

Oh trust me, You guys have a HUUGGE target on you and the laser illuminator is coming from those brick buildings on the north side of the airport.

"Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer."

And "Free beer at every interview".

No, you have to be hired first. The free beer is at the new hire beer and pizza party DALPA puts on. The good news is that there are considerable and consistant rumblings about hiring this fall/winter as long as nothing major happens and the advanced bookings keep improving.

Theyve been "supposed" to hire for about 2 years now. Even in official company documents.

Kinda hard to hire when you are merging two employee groups and you're not sure just how many bodies you'll need after the dust settles. Harder still when you promise no furloughs and could end up overstaffed by several hundred.

I dont disagree...I hope delta does hire soon.

Book me (him!) for a seminar at your local community college on the wonderful opportunities that exists for professional pilots in the future!

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaahrar!"!!!1

With this move, DAL and USAir have basically forced the DOT's hand. Either they approve it, or they show how the DOT is biasing the decision.

If it isn't approved, I would expect a VERY high profile legal battle, with most of the airlines on one side, and the DOT on the other.

Great times...if you're a lawyer...

Who knows... But I think the DOJ needs to stop the partnership between Jetblue/AA.... Seems about as wrong as the orginal slot swap... :) (Sarcasm)
