Possibly both occupants flown to nearby emergency hospital.

Aircraft totalled.

Say a quick prayer, it appears they both survived the incident. Hopefully they pull through.

Appears to have been a Paris-Air Seneca based in KVRB.
 
Anyone you know, bLiz? Any word on what caused the crash? Glad that they survived. For the way that plane is wrapped around the trees, they're really lucky.

I have not yet learned the names of the occupants. I'm familiar with a few of the instructors, but not on a first name basis by any means. That doesn't change how I feel right now though. I was leaving for a check ride when I heard it reported that a plane was down off airport, it was very difficult for me to finish that flight.
 
Both occupants conscious and speaking to the rescue personnel the entire time. Extremely good indication.

I will respect the privacy of the instructor by not giving the details, but he is going to be ok. He is a co-worker and a friend. I just got back from the hospital and was able to talk with him for a while before surgery.

He is obviously banged up, but considering what he just went through I thank god he is alive.

We all love this instructor and he has a great support crew as he recovers.

No details on the student, but he will also be ok!

Out of respect for this guy, I hope we can hold off on some speculation until the crash investigation comes out. If you knew this guy you would ask the same!

I know! Just looking out for the guy. I know we are all way more mature on this website! Rumors are flying around town and I am on the defense. I wasn't pointing fingers.
 
How does one manage to get a tree coming out the window and still survive. Wow, lucky guys! Glad it turned out ok.

Edit, I'm not really speculating, I'm just sayin' Holly crap how the heck did that happen?!?!

Bigger cabin, generally at least 200 HP, sometimes turbocharged to 220. Not sure which type this one was.
 
Golf Kilo was a really really nice turbo Seneca 2, dual Garmin 530s, autopilot, sheepskin seat covers, you name it!
 
Glad they survived this! I'm not sure how they survived it, and it amazes me that they did. Amazing looking at wrecks and seeing fatals that don't look this bad, and these which you automatically would assume were fatal and weren't.

Good news! You could kinda tell from the photos that things looked like they might be ok.

I hope you or anyone else takes no offense to this but when he is better maybe you could talk him into comming on here and telling us what went right, what went wrong, and what he might have done different. Maybe Doug could lock the thread as soon as it was done to, so we might all learn from a situation like his. I think it would be good for us to just listen.

Seminole=Arrow with 2 engines
Seneca=Saratoga with 2 engines

Glad to hear things turned out with a positive ending here. Far to often, these things end the wrong way.
