Piedmont PHX Flying (Part 3,294)

recall furloughees into PHX to fill all the F/O slots.

That part worries me some. As much as I'd love to get back to flying [full time], a cross country commute would be a tough pill for us to swallow right now, 'specially with a brand new rugrat. I agree, though, force moves would probably be the order of the day.

I don't think it will be alot, so you may escape it. You can also turn down recall and hold your seniority number I believe. If this formula of four crews per plane holds true then 6 Dashes in PHX means they will need to domicile 48 to 52 pilots there. So cut in half say roughly 25 F/O's. Guessing out of my ass based on conversation with other right seat Piedmonsters they will probably get 18 to 20 voluntary's. And force move no more than 6 or eight tops.

Imagination? No, it's called opinion. And my opinion is based on years with Piedmont, the state of the times, and trends in Airways managment's decision making process. Can I say for certain what will happen? Hardly, and I never claimed to. I formulate opinion on what my specific interpretation of facts and trends imply as a forecast. If you disagree then fine.

Do you have something to add to the discussion, such as a respectable opposing opinion as opposed to childish instigating banter?

This is a public forum with no respectable opinions just fodder. Years @ PDT??? You are a mid 07 hire! You will be keeping that right seat warm for a little while longer.
I would be willing to give you my informed opinion anytime face to face not on a public forum.
Dash;)

I'm pretty sure December came at the end of '07.

I'm relatively certain that RSG is on furlough. (Not keeping any seats 'warm')

I'm absolutely certain that 'Years @ PDT' does not determine one's acumen with respect to opinion on any topic. (Without a doubt by the way, some of the biggest morons i've ever met work here)

I'm downright positive that her opinions on this board have been very insightful and certainly well thought out, if not necessarily 'tea leave' accurate. Some of the best PDT discussion i've seen anywhere has come from RSG.

Finally; I'm beyond convinced that there are respectable opinions on this forum, just not from you, oh grand DASH8AV8R. :bandit:

I really could care less what seat I'm in...I wouldn't take upgrade at PDT if it was offered. And a big wrongo with my hire date oh mighty Dash God of Wisdom! You are quite off.

Sorry about your DOH. I did not claim to have any wisdom on PDT.

Like i said Phuz I would not post my opinion on a public forum.

Flame away!!!!

The only person that has flamed here is you.

Wisdom on PDT? Whatever....it's not exactly the most complicated management team or company set up out there. A person could be employed at PDT for 2 months and have the place figured out. One does not need to have worked at PDT for decades to understand trends and offer informed opinion. There are 20 year captains at this place that still don't grasp the concept of how a "wholly owned" airline operates. So wisdom, or the lack thereof, by no means is defined by the amount of time employed at an airline.

Now if you have no interest in giving your opinion then why participate in the forum at all? If you are just looking for entertainment, an understandable and even respectable position regarding message boards, then why post hostile remarks vs. just lurking? There are good conversations here , bad ones, silly ones, funny ones, and idiotic ones. Dropping in just to instigate a fight with someone you don't know, likely never met, don't care about, aren't friends with etc. makes no sense when said behavior is coming from someone who is supposed to be a mature adult and an airline professional.

Such behavior smacks of a superiority complex. And an unwillingness to respect a co-workers opinion regardless of whether or not you agree with it in all actuality is just plain mean and spiteful for the sake of nothing at all.

You think my opinions are nonsense, you have that right. But why pick a fight over it on a message board? What purpose does it serve to belittle someone other than a transparent attempt to make yourself look more superior and or intelligent? No one on JC buys into that kind of rhetoric. I have been swatted down off my own high horse bred of arrogance plenty of times here to know that full well. When you communicate respectfully with JC members you find a lot of information starts coming your way that you may have been closed off too while being blinded by arrogance. You might even make an actual friend or two.

Life, and especially a career in the airlines is all about learning new things every single day. When you automatically assume, you know better, or someone junior to you on a seniority list is automatically less informed or more ignorant then you are, you come off us disrespectful, cocky and just plain mean. Is that the kind of person you are in the real world? Because if I knew who you are and met you, I would assume that about you exactly and would want nothing to do with you. And that is sad because you may be in reality a very cool person.

When people aspire to belittle and insult they only harm themselves.

Wow. I have never had a conflict with a fellow crew member. Senior or junior. I agree with you about DOH and life being two different things. But your opinions come across as gospel like sometimes.
I also agree that we have a large % of our pilots that keep their heads in the sand and PDT likes it that way.
You are correct in saying you don't know me. But I would like to fly with you anytime and then we do we can disguss our opinions face to face like adults, I also never claimed to be mature. Fly safe:D

Now that...is wisdom on PDT as sad as it is.

Salisbury smells like poo in the summer, so hopefully I can get Roachanoke back after this "so-called" recall.

Some 'adults' are quite capable of discussing their opinions BOTH at work and on discussion forums. They are two different venues. One offers personal contact where subtle contexts that aren't delivered through text can be understood. The other offers a chance to place well thought out messages in an anonymous manner without fear of reprisal (i.e. a crappy working relationship with someone you whom you are trapped in a tin-can with for days on end).

RightSeatGirl is definitely not on furlough. I know for a fact because she is more senior to me and I am sitting here in a hotel on a Piedmont overnight!!!

Flame away!!!!

I'm sorry man, but as a webmaster, the above quote is about the most confusing thing that a user can post.

What in the world does "flame away" mean anyway? :)

"I said what needed to be said and I am willing to accept the heat resulting from it"?

"I'm standing firmly behind my pseudonym so unleash molten hell on my avatar"?

"other"?

Just curious, man! :)

Oh, c'mon, you're a lifer in the making ;)

You're closer to 04-05 hire, aren't you? In fact, don't you have some CAs junior to you?

No way dude..I'm gonna find me the first comfy corporate cockpit that will have me once there is industry growth again. I absolutely LOVE flying for living. I absolutely LOATHE working for an airline. I flew a little corporate before I got hired at PDT and loved every day of it. I miss the GA ramp, the wonderful and respectful demeanor of the FBO people, the Mercedes crew car at the Cleveland Jet Center, The overnights in places like Key Largo and Telluride. But most of all, I love how the passengers actually would thank me every time for a safe flight. And though some in the group would not say anything..they still never gave me even .02% of the headaches I get from commercial pax.

Oh I'm sure pilots out there had bad experiences flying corporate, and even in my short time doing I had bad days that rival the worst I've had at PDT, but...they were much much fewer and far between.

How bout some contract work flying "hard rice" into 3rd world places in a C-7 or C-123?

If it paid ridiculously well..I'd consider it for a couple of years I suppose. I tried to get on with some of the govt Dash operators, but not having any military flight exp. , my ATP, or enough PIC turbine washed me off the hireable list.
