More 747's and A330's on the way.

But you didn't hear that here...

If Delta orders more 74's, are those going to be fenced off? (My understand was that the current ones were fenced for 5 years? Feel free to correct me!)

Or would a new order mean that both D-n and D-S can bid the plane?

:) Doug! Oh wait.... Where did I hear that new rumor from.... Darn it.... Already forgot who told me about it..

FYI...I have this posted all over a.net as "heard it on JC first!!!11)

:sarcasm: (in case it's need)

If it wasn't from a lead mechanic and will be announced next friday after closing, I don't believe it.

(I like rumors like this no matter what!)

Nah, four to six weeks man. Four to six weeks.

Apparently, (insert VP here) was spotted on a flight to Toulouse to talk about the Airbuses right after he was spotted having lunch at Boeing Field with the money people.

Nice to finally hear good news in the industry instead of the constant sky is falling posts :)

More planes at Internashunal mean a possible spot for me one day.

If I remember correctly (and I probably don't) new airframes not already on order were NOT going to be fenced. I think I remember having that conversation on here about how would you track the 777s order after the merger. By tail number?

The 744's that are being looked at aren't new.... there are a lot of them for cheap out in the desert. Quite a few that UAL bought and flew straight to the desert new.

Yeah there's a number of them over here in MZJ, although the 744 aren't yet being towed over to the north area of the field (the scrapping area). Right now, it's still mostly 742s and a few 743s there, the 2s being NWA birds, and 3s being foreign. The 741s from TWA that were here are long gone. But I imagine it won't be long before the first 744 gets hooked up and towed across the runway to here.

In the first pic, most of the NWA 742s you see there are scrapped, or in the process of. The three planes in the far back facing the camera are both being parted out, as well as used as assault training aircraft for the USSOCOM Parachute Test and Training Center facility located to the right of them. In the second pic, the BWIA L-1011 is finally scrapped, as well as the ANA 742, the Phillipines 742, and the TWA 741. The white 743s and 747SPs there are still waiting, and the NWA DC-10s are in the middle of being scrapped. The lone Delta L-1011 sitting on the back-40 was the last L-1011 in revenue service for Delta, and flew the last flight from ATL to Victorville, CA; then was ferried again to Pinal where it serves as a parts source for the Flying Hospital L-1011 based just south at TUS.
