ASA Vietnam base

A certain SkyWest figure that turned the airline into a profitable one was in Vietnam early this December.

I'd say there's some legs to the rumor. Would think that pilots other than ASA or SkyWest will staff them though. Might be a another investment like the one in South America.

To say the company is agressively pursuing flying may be an understatement. BH was in the crew lounge Christmas day talking about it now rumor has it the chief pilots are saying it's confirmed. Look for an announcement in a couple weeks. 10 CRJ 900s for Mekong Air.

Wow! Man If this is true thats going to be crazy. Shoot, if I were at ASA it bid it.....:bandit:

No, Mesa didn't do it. They failed at it.

Shrug. They found something to do with airplanes they'd otherwise have to park. Did they lose money? Probably. Did they lose less money than they would have if they'd just been paying the leases on parked airplanes? I suspect they did. But I have no real information and basically shooting from the hip on this one. ;)

Yeah me too!!

But, yeah, I'll believe it when I see it. We all know how 'I overheard the chief' type rumours go...

This one actually has more legs than just from the chief pilot. I was in the pilot lounge on Christmas day when our COO BH was in there talking with pilots. I was on the phone so I was only kinda listening but I did hear them discussing Vietnam and heard BH say something about a great way to bring furloughs back but I thought nothing of it until I heard the chief pilot rumor blow up today.

I wish I was a pilot and had the option to be stationed in Vietnam.

I would be the happiest person on the planet!!!

Welcome back; now you're displaced to Vietnam. As if the furloughees haven't been jerked around enough. :)

I'm very, ummm, suspicious of this one.

Not if your overnight is the Hanoi Hilton.

I wonder if the gold card is any good there.

In all honesty, I've not heard anything bad about Vietnam from friends that have been there recently.

Money goes a long way, people are friendly, great beaches and diving, blah blah blah

Eh, CEO over here said that one of the things they're trying to work out with Delta and the LGA stuff is getting our non rev benefits back up to par with the other connection carriers. Like every other rumour, ESPECIALLY from management, I'll believe it when I see it. Management guys were the ones that were saying we'd have a contract by the end of the month to every new hire class since March of 06. When we DID get a TA, some of them were even telling junior FOs "You'll be furloughed if this doesn't pass." I have zero faith in management spawned rumors.
