Re: Passenger lights firecrackers as Northwest Airlines flig

Really, I would expect the title to be:

Passenger w/ unknown links to Al-Qaeda light explosives aboard 200 passenger aircraft.

With a title like this probably some kid with the little poppy things threw a couple. In the panic of a "bomb" 2 old ladies and a 2 year old were trampled in the airplane.

Re: Passenger lights firecrackers as Northwest Airlines flig

Well, MSNBC is saying: "BREAKING NEWS: FBI responds to reported hijacking attempt on jet inbound to Detroit Airport"

Fox is saying: well, there's some hunt for someone named Sarah.

Re: Passenger lights firecrackers as Northwest Airlines flig

They weren't wearing a turban so it's not terrorism.
I love the news.

Re: Passenger lights firecrackers as Northwest Airlines flig

(CNN) -- A passenger on a Northwest Airlines flight Friday from Amsterdam, Netherlands, to Detroit, Michigan, caused a brief disturbance at the end of the trip by igniting several firecrackers, according to a Delta Air Lines spokeswoman.

The passenger was immediately subdued, according to Susan Elliott, spokeswoman for Delta, Northwest's parent company.

The incident resulted in some minor injuries, Elliott said.

The FBI is investigating the incident, bureau spokeswoman Sandra Berchtold told CNN.

The plane, which landed around noon, was carrying 278 passengers.

The Transportation Security Administration had no immediate comment.

I wonder if it's the same lady who cursed at my captain because her "$2000" stroller was broken, but really wasn't. Who knows.

Re: Passenger lights firecrackers as Northwest Airlines flig

good thing the 'powder' from the crackers was picked up by the super doplar chemical sniffer the TSA uses....:laff:

Re: Passenger lights firecrackers as Northwest Airlines flig

My bet: Someone popped the cord on one of those little champagne bottle confetti bottles.

I can't figure out why anyone would be celebrating an arrival into Detroit, so I may be wrong.

Come on, you know they didn't check her. Women aren't terrorists. We're all perfect angels that never do anything wrong. ;) (Plus it was a firecracker and not REAL explosives, you know there is a difference. :sarcasm:)

love those things, scares the crap out of the girlfriend when she is not expecting it.

I fully understand the tongue in cheek nature of your comment, but I immediately thought of the Lockerbie bombing. The pregnant girlfriend unwittingly transported the bomb packed by her terrorist boyfriend.

I wonder if they get the 74 virgins in a case like that.

However, back to the original point of the thread, any time you get 253 people together, the odds are pretty good that there is at least one mentally unstable person in the crowd. This event just confirms that principle.

Re: Passenger lights firecrackers as Northwest Airlines flig

At least one per block of 50 passengers! :)

MQAAORD is going to kill me now.

Re: Passenger lights firecrackers as Northwest Airlines flig

Great. Let's see what kind of knee-jerk do nothing rule the TSA imposes on everyone now.

Re: Passenger lights firecrackers as Delta Airlines flig

Seeing the flight came in from AMS, the TSA had little if anything to do with it.....But we'll see what the end result is....
