Just curious Wangro2, did you get your FOL yet from your HR?

No, not yet. Crossing my fingers everyday there won't be some change of schedule. I also had to refresh my drug screen, so I'm sure once those results are in I should be receiving something soon after. I initially did the drug screen on 6/22 so I figured it would still be good on 12/4 but maybe they don't count to the day, just the month.

The horror stories about people getting class dates changed are now frequenting my dreams, but I'm trying to stay optimistic.

Just this last Thursday afternoon. Not sure what time frame to expect in terms of results. I'd say a couple weeks or so, and then they should send out the FoL and all that business. That's what makes sense to me at least. Who knows though.

Great! Well, maybe that is what I have to look for as well. I'm sure those results just take a couple weeks. Anyway, congrats. Hopefully mine is just as smooth.

Looks like I want to be like you while quoting myself, but I just received my FoL as well. Less than a week turnaround from the Drug Screen refresh. 37 days until I start. Excited/Nervous to say the least.

Tomorrow night is school girl outfit night at the local Hooters. Might have to head in there and have some chicken and beer. Although I have to admit, I probably would have gone even if I had not gotten my FoL.

I'm counting my days as well, getting excited . I'll probably give my 1 month notice today or tomorrow to my current employer.

seems like it would have been a lot easier to go into the airforce. they are always hurting for controllers.....it was easy peasy for me. make it through a short basic, a short techschool, and bam, you are in a facility training...relatively hassle free. i think i must have just been lucky with my experience controlling in the af. however, this process with the faa seems to be worse than a colonoscopy! (not that i have had one, but i can imagine) i'm taking my atsat next friday, and i have nothing but time, so i am good with the wait. my advice is to just enjoy the ride. no point in getting in a rush. life is what you make of it.

this process with the faa seems to be worse than a colonoscopy! (not that i have had one, but i can imagine).

I had my first at 25(thank you Grandma for colon cancer family history), next in a couple years. It actually wasn't horrible considering I don't remember it at all. I think they do a good job of helping you forget that type of violation of manhood.

I'm going to need a new comparison is the moral of my story.

haha, wangro2, sorry to bring up such a sensitive subject, no pun intended. actually i'm 28. will be 29 in january. if i can't get in by 31, there is a serious problem. i've heard that applicants with no prior experience have a lot longer wait times. of course it's hearsay, but several people i worked with in the af got there school date after about 6 months. i hope i fall into the later catagory

Think you just need a TOL before you're 31 if my memory serves me correctly. From start to finish, it will have taken me just about 1.5 years from initial application to OKC start date.

Keep a good attitude though. I've said on here before, the speculation will drive you nuts, but that is the point of these forums. I was truly told it would not be until May that I got sent to OKC, then two days later I got the call asking me if I wanted to go Dec 4th.

yeah, i agree. i know it is different for everyone. and things can change at any moment. it's a beast no one can tame. i actually could use a year since my husband just took a job overseas and the kids and i are going to. it is a 12 month contract so i'll just fly back if they need me for all the other stuff. it will either work or it won't. i'm old enough now to realize if one door closes, another will open. hence the "i'm good with it" statement. but these forums are pretty awesome in that you can get an IDEA of what you are in for. lots of help here.

It's been a month since this thread started, anything change for anyone? Still hoping a spot at my facility will magically open up before my clearances all start to expire in March.

Mine expire in February, and there's a guy retiring in February. I doubt the ATO will determine the facility needs me as much as I need them. I haven't e-mailed EM lately, mainly because I hate getting rejection letters from women.

How often can the numbers change for staffing facility levels? Quarterly? I remember we had to wait to hear in October about FY2010, so do they only do it yearly, semi-yearly, any idea?

I've been told no slots till FY2011, and at that point HR rep won't know how many slots there will be, just that there MAY be some openings.

EM said the numbers can (and sometimes do) change daily, and at that point, it's up to the ATO to decide when someone can go to the facility. For instance, the ATO will be notified if CMH has an opening that could be filled, at which point they have to determine if the facility actually needs someone to fill that slot immediately, or if the facility even has the budget to bring in someone else for this fiscal year. If so, they'll notify HR to send someone to CMH, and as long as you're the first in line, you'll get your phone call. If they decide not to send someone, they'll try to put you in the budget for FY2011 -- but again, that becomes based on facility need.

I, unfortunately, could foresee not getting a class date, even in FY2011, due to the small size of the facility to which I am assigned.

I'm part of your group finally. There's one slot for my facility in the second half of the year but I am number 2 of 4. Maybe someone will retire. Jerms you may want to double check on your PEPC stuff expiring. I was told I have til may 2011 for security. I was told probably one year from medical clearance for my medical.

Thanks for your thoughts. Did EM give you any reassurance that your TOL will never expire? She did tell me that no one can cut in front of me and that my TOL never expires, but it makes you wonder how long they keep your file sitting in a folder until finally they just bring someone fresh from the next PUBNAT along instead b/c your paperwork is so old. Am I just paranoid? :insane:
