My transition back to civie world was tough for the first few months, but then I realized freedom. :D
 
Congrats!! The first month out was the best for me. Now's it's been just over 3 years and I miss the hell out of it.

The reality is that you get a chance to live your life all over again the way you want to.

Truth to that.

Albeit, for me, the first year out was great. . .now. . .I always missed the great people I worked with and had working for me, but otherwise, I just miss the actual challenge of performing on a daily/nightly basis. Sales just doesn't do it for me.
 
God, I skipped past this thread so many times because I was like..."PFC, whoopty doo...E-3," but it kept getting post added so I click on it finally and see that PFC means Private F$#$in Civilian...LMAO

Congrats man! Felt like you do when I got off active last year, now I'm strangely starting to miss it; even considered going back in recently.
 
No feeling quite like leaving the base for the last time is there!
I felt like I was literally walking on air after they signed my discharge papers and I headed out to my car.

You'll miss some things, no doubt. But, I haven't shaved in almost a week, and I went to the grocery store in pajamas yesterday. I slept till noon today, because I didn't wanna get up.

I CHOOSE who I want to call Sir, and I can make dun of people without fear of silly reprisals.

Yeah - being a civilian is awesome!!!

Don't be too sure. A lot of people get off active duty and assume they are no longer on the roles, but in fact they are in the Reserves. My guess is that if you just came off active duty you are still in the Individual Ready Reserve (IRR) and can be recalled.
