Charging for airshow admission?

But if the airport wants to coexist with the people that live around it, they need to give something back in exchange for all the problems they cause. I think maybe I will start calling in noise complaints on the tower frequency and make one of those really loooooong and sloooow radio calls.

Well, I have been to over a dozen airshows and don't recall ever paying a dime to get in to any of them. I do remember them charging for some of the close-up parking and the concessions being a bit outrageously priced and I can understand that kind of stuff. But if the airport wants to coexist with the people that live around it, they need to give something back in exchange for all the problems they cause. I'm sorry your life is this pathetic.

Ummm, yeah, ever been to an airport. You think those people that live around it enjoy having it there? Sure the airport may have been there first, but the airport is outnumbered.

Disgusting.
I'm taking this post and the whole thread as flame.
Or sheer ignorance.

You need a MikeD kick in the ass just for merely making such an idiotic series of statements.

You know, I've only been to a handful of airshows.

I was a regular at Lemoore NAS and I think it was free.

The only civilian field airshow I've been to was the Muskegon air show and I think Kristie and I paid to get into that one.

I really don't remember! But then, I think, it was "sponsored" by some foundation so it was more of a donation to the cause.

That was a fun air show too. Just got back from a weekend up in Silver Lake with Kristie's family, got to see some airplanes but then, unfortunately, a couple weeks later the world almost came to an end during 9/11.

Grr...

Yeah it was a good show...I developed my love of aviation going to that show every summer. It cost to much to put on though so they shut it down.

LOL.....The smelling like onions thing reminds me of Castle AFB up in Atwater/Merced.....that whole area always smells like onions.

That's the funny thing with NASs, they all have two names: The NAS name (ie- North Island) and the field name (ie- Halsey Field).
