Those numbers mean nothing. Do you know how much padding (or over-block) they built into the schedule? I imagine a lot. Most airlines over-block LGA for "just-in-case" time.
Pad it to pimp that on-time percentage!

Good story.S'actly I was one hour early to LGA one time.

Now, how the heck do you do that on a 1 hour flight in the beech?
An hour crossing the pond is easy, especially with a little extra go juice and a commuting flight that leaves 5 minutes before your flight was scheduled to get in.

Nope, still unsafe. I represented a pilot at Pinnacle who was called in to the office for discipline because he injured a flight attendant after slamming on the brakes during taxi. He was on a very long straightaway that parallels runway 22L in DTW. According to the FO, he got it up to about 40-45 knots. A Spirit plane was holding short of the taxiway waiting for the Pinnacle plane to pass. ATC made a mistake and told the Spirit plane to join the parallel and taxi to the runway. Thinking that the Pinnacle guy would stop, the Spirit plane started to taxi and pulled out onto the parallel. Unfortunately, the Pinnacle plane was moving too fast and he didn't hear the direction to follow Spirit. When the Spirit plane started to pull forward, the Pinnacle Captain had to slam on the brakes to prevent a collision. The FA was doing her walk through and was picked up off her feet and thrown backwards when he slammed on the brakes. She was injured as a result, thankfully not too seriously. The Captain got to do a serious carpet dance, and I had to beg and plead to keep the guy from getting suspended.
Fast taxiing is dangerous. Keep the speed under 20 knots.
Southwest has an in house ASAP program. Their stuff probably doesn't get turned over to NASA.
Hmph. Would it be possible to get this info directly from SWA? I mean they are a public company right? Shouldn't the general public be able to access this info?
The FA waited till the aircraft got up to that speed to do her walk-through? WTF was she doing as the aircraft left the ramp?
Sounds like both pilot and FA are to blame. Stupidity on both ends really. Moving around the cabin while the aircraft is underway is not a good idea, period.

I'm not trying to create or inject doubt this ever happened, but as a pilot I like to read the actual reports. So when I can't find one it's somewhat frustrating.
But I do have to wonder if things get blown out of proportion too sometimes.
Thanks for the info though.
The purpose of ASAP isn't supposed to be a CYA issue, it's a voluntary reporting program that's kept anonymous in order to encourage people to report issues to spot trends that are happening. Start making it available to everyone, and the number of reports is gonna drop. It'll be harder to spot trends, nothing will get changed, and that defeats the purpose of ASAP. I know at my company, we've had a lot of things changed for the better thanks to ASAP.
Ummm? What? You do realize that often times the FAs are up doing their safety demo and cabin checks until just before the plane gets to the runway right? In fact, if it's a short taxi (or a slow FA) I've had to tell tower we weren't ready yet because were still had our FAs working on the safety demo.
Heya Bob,
Oh I know sometimes FAs are up doing their safety demo and cabin checks during the taxi. But it is unsafe. Yes those things are exempt from the regs because these duties are directly related to the safety of the aircraft and it's occupants.
But hey, think about this. Since 121 guys start getting paid when they push from the gate, guys could push, pull over off a side taxiway, let the FA's do the safety demo etc, and then start the taxi.
I know seriously that wouldn't work, but it'd be a way to add to those slow taxi times $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
I better put my flame suit on.![]()

Why is this info not available in a stripped down format? Only include where the event happened, type aircraft etc. Too similar to ASRS?
BTW, is it true Flightdata Recorder info is used in ASAP?

Yeah unfortunately we lose our sense of humor sometimes. Trust me, if we could hear the inflection in ur voice it would be different. Throw a sarcasm tag up there it'll help in the future. So is 121 dive and drive?
No guys come on. I'm posting opinion. It is simply that, not much else. I do believe it is not smart for anyone, FA or otherwise, to be moving about the cabin while it is manuevering on the ground.
And of course take my pulling off to the side remark in the light of humor. Jeez guys.. what happens when you go to work for a 121 operator? It's like you become too serious. :insane:
Anyway, thanks for the replies to my posts. It is always nice to engage in civil conversation.
Blue Skies!
