** Official "Slated for Next Fiscal Year (Oct. 2009)" Thread

Re: ** Official "Slated for Next Fiscal Year (Oct. 2009)" Th

CTI grads usually skip the basics portion. I'd start calling those guv'mint phone numbers and asking if you're a CTI graduate and you really want to take basics.
They only skip it if they got picked up through a CTI announcement. If they happened to apply OTS, and got selected through that they are required to take the basics class. Anyone selected through the OTS apps takes basics, regardless of their background.

Thanks for the clarification! That's what I meant, but I wasn't very clear on that.

Re: ** Official "Slated for Next Fiscal Year (Oct. 2009)" Th

I'd almost be willing to bet that if you were picked up through a CTI announcement, they would not let you take basics because in the end it would cost them more money. Not only in salary, but the training the provide you with also. But this is not based on anything concrete I have heard.

Re: ** Official "Slated for Next Fiscal Year (Oct. 2009)" Th

Honestly I'm not even sure which way I was picked up. I remember receiving an email telling me to fill out all the info on the ASAP website a few months after my school sent out their recommendation list and been following that ever since. The ASAP website is for PUBNATs though, right? Looks like I have some calling to do. Here's to hoping I got picked up OTS (somehow)! Thanks again guys.

Re: ** Official "Slated for Next Fiscal Year (Oct. 2009)" Th

Nevermind, I found out the announcement number that I applied to and it was through CTI. Bummer. Hopefully I can try to nab a spot in a basics class. Woo hoo for sub-par colleges!

Re: ** Official "Slated for Next Fiscal Year (Oct. 2009)" Th

I talked to my HR Rep today, and she said that they really don't have much information on our fate for probably another 6 weeks. Sounds like it's pretty much in the hands of the ATO and out of the hands of HR until then.

Re: ** Official "Slated for Next Fiscal Year (Oct. 2009)" Th

Does anyone have any advice for haveing E.M.? from what i hear shes the enroute HR rep with a new garnish of B.R.'s central terminal.

but anyway i got medically cleared and i was wondering if she gets many FY2010'ers. maybe she'll throw me a class date?

Re: ** Official "Slated for Next Fiscal Year (Oct. 2009)" Th

I contacted her the day I got the word she was my new rep. BR had told me that i was pushed back until next fiscal year and EM pretty much confirmed it. Congrats on getting through the mmpi re-eval. From what I've heard it's quite a drag.

You're slated for an area that's "in-need" so I would think it's possible you'd get in prior to FY10, but there's never any guarantees with the FAA.

Re: ** Official "Slated for Next Fiscal Year (Oct. 2009)" Th

nothing till next fiscal year (October) here either, I think EW or the Midwest region has a lot of people that are waiting till October, so sit tight and join the club guys...

I think the wait is going to be longer than October because my drug test expires this month and my Hr rep said they aren't doing drug expired retests till Sept/October which I interpreted as even if I did take my expired drug test this month it wood be good till Jan, they don't want to have to do another drug test if that one expires in Jan. which means they aren’t positive they can get me/us in before January. I interpreted it as having to wait a little longer even though I’m eager to get started I know its just a matter of time and am content with waiting longer.

Swinte... Do you have a southern accent? I flew through west-central Arkansas in February and talked to Razorback Approach for a while. The controllers had heavy accents and one of them said something like, "Let me check on that for ya right quick." I lol'd.

I e-mailed BR back before she left and asked about the drug tests expiring -- they expire 6 months after you do it, so having a January PEPC means yours expires this month.

Checking the FAA Academy site for class schedules, I see that currently there are no Terminal classes slated for October. November 20th is the earliest Terminal Basics course. En-route and TRACON, however, have Basics classes starting October 6th (lucky bastards). We've got a bit of a wait ahead of us. :(

I have a bit of a southern twang, but not nearly as bad as some of the folks here in the TRACON. However, with you working at ZKC, it's possible you'll be accepting some of my handoffs one day since Razorback Approach handles Northwest Arkansas which in turn borders ZKC :-)

Yep. I flew from Kansas City to Mena. My handoffs went Kansas City Center, Razorback Approach, Memphis Center. You'll get to know the personality of two different centers. Variety win.

well. the area's in need but the facility's not.

its more of lake charles, monroe, lafeyette, and MAYBE baton rouge that needs the recruits.

Baton Rouge too. That was my backup, should my first choice had fallen through. Monroe picked up a ton of people out of 3/4, so they're not quite as hard up as they once were... used to be pretty bad, though.

Re: ** Official "Slated for Next Fiscal Year (Oct. 2009)" Th

They switched 2 BTR people to MSY in May which is now on a hold as well. I think just about all the LA cities are on a hold now. I think a lake charles person just got a date.
