Don't forget all those airlines that had ridiculously rapid growth will show an artificially low price due to entitlement training (free training that comes with the purchase of equipment) lower benefits (less vaca and sick time for lower longevity) and lower pay (longevity tied)

Even if all were operating under the same set of rules, you'd see this disparity.

Makes me think that perhaps APA is a better union than ALPA.

AA is the only legacy carrier in the United States which has not filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection (they didn't include SWA, so I didn't either ... even though they're one of the largest airlines in the US).

That's one of many reasons why AA gets my business whenever possible.

Regional Data

I hope this wasn't already posted. Eh. I guess it was. Thanks for moving my thread who ever did.

Two things of notes.

CHQ is pretty much the of the regional industry. They fly for EVERYBODY.

The two graphs at the bottom scare me. The dream job just isn't going to be there for everybody anymore.

American didn't file for bankruptcy? Really?

The thing which really stood out to me was the crappy pay for Pinnacle....hell, they're almost on par with Mesa!!! It's time for Pinnacle to do something about that crappy contract!

...pretty tough to change the contract if you've got 1000's of guys willing to fly for basically nothing...

Even when the Union goes to the bargaining table to fight for better compensation, it doesn't mean much. When management can stall indefinitely and leave the Union with no recourse, we're all screwed.

Recently, Piedmont invited two of its fellow feed providers to the bargaining table along with them. Capt. Prater popped in to kick off the event.

The company's response to all proposals once Capt. Prater left?

"Current book."

Airline managements WANT to whipsaw us, and have no intent of bargaining in good faith. Absolutely none.

Conversely, that $350 American Airlines blob is going to make for lively negotiations. :(

No, AMR never filed for bankruptcy. In retrospect, they're probably seriously regretting it. They would have shed the pilot pension, gotten huge scope concessions, and slashed payrates at least 20%.

As far as the APA being so wonderful, stay tuned. The APA is currently in a state of disarray with several factions on their BOD fighting with each other about the proper strategy going forward, and the NMB will soon "park" them for probably 12 months with no negotiations because they are being so unreasonable. The APA is a mess.

Been trying for over 5 years (4 years since the contract became ammendable). I THINK we might be entering the end game. I also think we were essentially done last week until management moved the goal posts on dual qualification and is possibly lying through their teeth about the pass benefits. If they're telling the truth, the Delta guys at Freedom and Shuttle America are in for a rude awakening on June 23rd when pass benefits for all non-wholly owned DCI carriers get slashed into uselessness. Then again, I'm about 99.9% sure our management is just telling us it's all non-wholly owned DCI carriers thinking we don't know anyone outside of our own airline.....

A sad truth of the things to come ahead. It's like I was saying a while back- Regional pilots may well be where they are for the rest of their careers.

The "Up and Out" philosophy has been disproved. Congrats to those few who make it, but the rest of us are hosed. Hopefully the continued trend won't reverse the fortunes of those who did make it up.

Re: Regional Data

Well, in 13 years, when I'm not out of a regional. . .some new hire can thank me for ditching this career.

Professional benchmarks people; get some.
