Pilots who annoy me...

I seriously can't believe what Im reading in this thread. Complaints about position reports? Complaints about "clear of the active"? You have got to be kidding me. Aren't those factors that contribute to the safety of flight? We are talking about uncontrolled airspace, relying on eachother to keep one another safe. We should omit "clear of the active" because it annoys somebody? I am shocked. I am seriosuly beset by such complaints. If I am in uncontrolled airspace I will give a position report. And I will report my position more frequently if I am in a congested practice area. And I always report clear of the active. Is any of this unsafe? Throw me a bone here because I always thought reporting clear of the active and my general position in uncontrolled airspace is the safe thing to do.

:yeahthat:

I'm annoyed by banner planes pulling ads for PBR, some $5.99 buffet at Bubba's Seafood Shack, or some other crap I'm never going to buy.

That's funny. I wish they would pull giant pictures of hot girls.

Maybe they can also pull me behind the plane on my wakeboard or a set of skis.

What's even more annoying is every time I go to the beach those banner pilots keep flying over me, doesn't matter if I move my towel and go 100 yards in the opposite direction. I think they're following me, I mean I know I look darned good in my leopard skin Speedo, but find someone else to stalk on the beach.

I felt the same way when I was laying out in my dental-floss thong the other day. Man did I feel violated. :(

Any airspace in and around my airplane that has the potential to injure me, or the plane, I damn well own.

EDUC:
I often fly banners advertising strip clubs and hard liquor. I haven't yet seen if the clubs offer "employee" discounts yet, I'll keep you posted.

Captain Cricket et al,
Is your situational awareness really that bad that you feel you need to make that many position reports? I don't know if anyone has told you this, but you can learn a lot by listening.

On the other hand.

Most of all the near-misses I've had, the other pilot wasn't on 22.75, so what good was flapping my gums?

And by the way, please teach this to your students:
1. Who you are
2. Where you are
3. What are you intentions

Everything else, your just taking up Capt Cricket's position reporting time...

Dude, I think you are coming at this the wrong way. Maybe a bit less angst.

LOL I seriously think you are joking because no competent pilot I know would ever say such things. Your first statment is exactly why I give position reports. I give position reports as I feel necessary to protect "Any airspace in and around my airplane that has the potential to injure me, or the plane, I damn well own." In addition, it helps me to maintain situational awareness because I haven't yet grown eyes in the back of my head or developed that "spidey sense". I'm human and I use all available resources to ensure that my flights are conducted safely for the sake of my students, myself and all other I share the airspace with.

What airspace 'in' your plane can cause you harm? Not sure I followed that. By the way, Im not even on your frequency. If you're so upset about pilots using 122.75 up to 40miles away at different airports, drop zones, etc then call your local FSDO and file a complaint. Or is 22.75 stricly for banner pilots?

You damn well own the banner plane you fly?

edit:: Honestly, I am done chiming in on this thread. Absolute nonsense that this is even an argument. Position reports make airspace safer to fly in and it keeps situational awareness for all that share it. There is absolutely no room for selfish, arrogant pilots in this industry. That's a dangerous attitude.

The only thing I can think of that really pisses me off is when you're trying to depart a CTAF field and everybody's doing touch and go upon touch and go and nobody exercises the common courtesy to extend a little bit and let you depart. Or when they DO extend but don't bother to say anything on the CTAF so you don't realize it until they're too close anyway. And controllers who always act like they have a stick up their arse. As for traffic reports, I don't care if it's a field that sees maybe 3 ultralights a year, I'm making a traffic report when I pass by. Better safe than sorry.

Relax, I think that shot across the bow was pointed at me. ;)

You know what annoys me? People who can't stand that someone else has a different way of doing things...

...and the Dutch.

Wooo Cheetahs!! You fly for Air ads?

This thread is funny. I do have one thing that annoys me. Guys doing practice approaches calling out the name of the fix they are at. Um, most guys out here are flying VFR, where is NABPI?

Ok Captain. Forgive me for suggesting otherwise then. :sarcasm: Seriously though dude. Everything you're bitching about can be attributed to the fact that amature pilots tend to fly like amatures. It's their thing. It's what they do. That's why they're amatures and you're not. Why does that annoy you so much?

You know what annoyed me when I pulled rags? Wroking 80 hours a week and coming home with a smaller paycheck than a part time McDonalds employee. And having a boss who would send me and my cohorts up in planes with 2600 hour engines. Then when we were planning year end MX and I'd ask him about doing an overhaul on said engine, he'd say no, we'll see if we can run it another year. Then in the next breath he'd talk about how he wanted me to get prices on new digital radios and an IFR GPS for said plane because he thought it'd be nice to have an IFR equipped plane that he could use to stay IFR current.

Ggggeeeezzzz... I don't know which thread is worse... This one or the one about wearing your hat... Pointless:crazy:

Today blasting off out of Gaithersburg with a tail wind after talking to Potomac Clearance for about 15 min. If you don't want to reply back don't, but I would rather sound like an idiot on the radio then get hit by another airplane.

As someone who flew out of Gaithersburg a lot, I did appreciate those position reports. It tells me where I should be looking for additional traffic. And, on a hazy day in the summer, it sure helps.

Yes, but it is one of the funnier threads out there. Most threads when they get to this length just have people pissing at each other. There's of course some of that here but many of the posts are truly humorous.
