Pilots who annoy me...

Nark

Macho Superpilot
Maybe I'm a bitter person, but there never seems to be a shortage of pilots on the other end that annoy the hell out of me.

For example:

Pilots who are flying an ILS, on an IFR flight plan, announce out of no where that they are now "IMC" Congrats, no one cares. (I can understand if ATC gives traffic call, but out of nowhere? common)

Pilots who abuse the hell out the air to air freq and announce their position every 30 seconds when no one else is around for miles. Don't worry I think you sound really cool on the radio too :sarcasm:. Nickel up or go-guns if you want to talk to someone at length, especially when there are ten thousand 172's in a square mile of airspace who actually should be talking to each other to avoid making the local headlines.

And these a-holes make me want to pull over to the side, get out of my airplane and beat them senseless. Pilots who fly 500' and 500' offshore in what ever weekend warrior plane they can rent. That giant 40x100 sign with a beer bottle on it moving at the same rate as me gives me a reason to be that low, what is yours?

And finally, If I can see you before you see me when I'm towing a banner, I should be able to take your license.

Please feel free to add.

Good grief. If those minor things annoy the hell out of you to the point that you want to beat them senseless, I think you need a little time out.

Didn't realize you owned the beach, sorry :D

what do you mean? Like a tops / bases report? I appreciate when going into an uncontrolled or small airport when the preceeding aircraft gives a report when they broke out.

Nothing illegal about the 500' and 500' thing. Keep our eyes peeled then. Other people besides yourself fly, ya know. I give position reports every mile I change position in the practice area. Don;t care if it annoys you because it keeps me a little safer. Blow it out your ass if you think it;s annoying.

By the way, if you are listening to those annoying pilots on those air to air freqs, aren;t you within some miles of them? Don't you want to know where they are? I applaud all pilots who give frquent position reports. We can just stop and hover, waiting to find out where the hell everyone is. We are in constant motion and need to talk to and look for other traffic. Why are you trying to wage war on other pilots for being safe and following the rules of the FAR's and general courtesy?

When a 172, who is flying 3 times as fast as I am, makes me test the structural integrity of my plane, that kind of annoys me.

Achoo (91.113) snifff snifff,
Did someone let a cat in?

Arent you guys cruising around 50 knots? Wouldnt a 172 be at 1.9 your speed? Maybe 2.2 tops. Picking up a banner tests the structural integ of your airplane.

Heed your own advice. Shut up for once, let others announce where they are, because with you announcing every 30 seconds, your stepping on an airplane that's patiently waiting to announce he's descending right on top of you.

And even with a 1976 radio at 500' I can pick up other aircraft 40 miles away.

I fly 30mph in a Piper. It's quite possible if you do it right.

I have a lot of pet peeves, here is the short list:

1.) Non-controlled airports do not have a active.

2.) Taking the runway for departure...where's it going? put it back?

3.) Airport Advisories - Pick up the ASOS/AWOS and look at the damn wind sock.

However every once in a while I do use the any traffic in the area please advise.

Today blasting off out of Gaithersburg with a tail wind after talking to Potomac Clearance for about 15 min. If you don't want to reply back don't, but I would rather sound like an idiot on the radio then get hit by another airplane.

I do. If you fly in SoCal then you must know why pilots give frequent position reports.

I wont stop giving position reports just because it annoys you.

Im confused. So you're angry because one frq can be used by 6 different airports, 40 miles apart? Complain to the FAA then. It's not the pilots fault they're using the only available frquency for their area, 40MILES AWAY from you. Give them a break.

By the way, sorry to tell you to blow it out your ass. That was immature and not very nice. As much as I disagree with you I should keep it polite. Need to cool down. ::crazy::

and I will be the guy that flies at 500' along the beach (if not lower if I can get away with it) in a rental. In fact if you want to look at it I'm paying for this flight and you're getting paid. There is nothing to be said that only banners can fly the beach. However, I wont run right over u either.. I'll keep an eye out and separation.

Non-controlled airports have an active runway or runways, its whatever you decide by nature of it being uncontrolled. Airports can have multiple active runways... if I decide to land on runway 9 and then you decide that you'd like runway 27 to be active, then while probably stupid but since both runways would be "in use" both runways would be active runways.

We have a local guy that has to tell his life story on the radio and telling ATC what he is going to do rather than having them direct him.
Comanche local guy to tower: "Tower, comanche 1234 is on foxtrot ready to taxi and we have done our run-up, gonna kick the tires and light the fires, We are gonna go over to XYZ for their delicious catfish dinner and my wife is going to have the ribs. I think we will take some pictures of the nearby river. Also I think we are going to fly by a few local towns at low level..."etc for about a good minute or two. Meanwhile I'm going around because I wasn't cleared to land by ATC because this guy is yapping.
This same local guy wears his nomex green flight suit coveralls, gloves, and boots while flying around.

Ok...that would fire me up...especially if I had to go around due to his yapping.

That doesn't sound bad at all, that would be pretty hilarious to witness.
