AOPA will never get another dime from me

And WHY did you need to go to ATL? Just to say you did it? I don't care how much you want to fly to ATL. Just be prepared to pony up a user fee if you feel the ego urge to mix it up with the big boys.

Who has the ego? 737 = heavy iron now? :rotfl:

Hey, don't take it personally. But you have NO BUSINESS operating at ATL with your level of proficiency.

And why the F not?

Pretty much. There are 737's the size of 757's.

***I*** don't have any business operating out of ATL. I'm pretty lazy on one leg every other day and I'm not proficient with the clip of the pace there in ATL like I was when I flew domestic.

ATL's not a beginner's game.

heavy iron :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I keed...................I keeeeeeeeeeeddd

Yes, I do realize that I'm a "Light Twin of the Atlantic" pilot, but to sneeze at a 737 just for argument's sake is a little bit disingenuous! :)

Doesn't matter, he has every right to try and get in. Controllers don't want him in they don't have to let him in. Maybe he went in at 3 am for all we know.

It's semantics, but he doesn't necessarily have a right, but to declare that it's absolutely practical to expect to shoot the Freeway Visual into JFK at 2pm is a little unrealistic when you're in a Seminole flying students.

On either side of the issue, and I straddle both because my roots are in GA, but my paycheck is from the airlines, is that we will seek balance.

When both the ATA and AOPA are equally pissed, we've attained that.

If it makes you feel better, I've never crossed the Atlantic. Beat the crap out of R220, but that's about it.

And I understand where the 737 is a big plane, as is a King Air, as is a Baron when you are training. However, to throw it around as I fly a 737, so that qualifies me to disqualify you, is an intellectually cheap argument I'd say.

However, there are alot of us that landed at "busy" airports at hours that are after the pax guys go to bed.

An option at O'Hare at 0200L?

He does have a right to ask to come in their airspace VFR. If they can accommodate him then I don't see the problem. Is it unrealistic as you say? Absolutely, however it never hurts to ask.

If he did it during the day then more power to him. ATL obviously thought he was competent enough and traffic allowed for him to make it down.

If they can accommodate him, absolutely. If they say "no", well no. But that isn't a "right", per se. Freedom of assembly, speech, etc are rights.

Not when the size of your wang, er aircraft is being used as the crux of credibility.

Only if you let 'em! Some folks think they're tough when they're driving a lifted truck, but they're only tough if you accept it. A Peacocks plume may look absolutely fab to another peacock, but if you're not a peacock, well, it's just another fancy bird trying to show off.

And no, I'm not a Buddhist.

Sir! You have convinced me to retire my chromed trailer hitch accessory, effective immediately. :p

Ask Bumblebee what his wife says about big trucks! ;)
When I met Winnie I owned a beautiful K5 Blazer . . . fortunately it was not lifted, but it was decked out. I told her about it before she saw it. After we went out she told me what she normally says to guys who strut around in their big trucks, "Nice truck, too bad about your Richard!" :hiya:

K-5 baby! The ONLY Blazer.....

Last I checked, a public use airport was open to everyone. ATL takes copious amounts of federal funding, so its open to everyone. Shouldn't matter what the reason is. If he felt that he wanted to go to ATL, then he went to ATL.

Hey, I'm not saying he can't go there. He should just have to pay a user fee to go there. He can go anywhere his wallet can take him. If he doesn't want to pay, he can stay in Grass Patch.

CalCapt and I fly them.

Yeah, its the Major Leagues. Even some of our guys need a little hand holding the first time they see EWR, ORD, DFW and DCA. They'll need it when we start ATL in the fall, too.

If the T-Ball, Pony League and Junior Varsity players want to fly there, they need to pay for the privilege. Otherwise, they're just interfering with U.S. commerce.

That's why they call it COMMERCIAL AVIATION kids. Even the military stays out of those airports unless they have a mission there.

I think its merely envy.

.

So, what makes your Part 121 operation so special that you don't have to pay user fee's to go to the same airport? I guess I fail to see any logic in the "lets tax the GA guys so we don't have to fix the airline scheduling problems that causes the problem." But hey man, I see how it is. You only wanted the ladder there until you passed it, then you wanted it gone.

We do pay fees. Have you ever look at how much of the ticket price is fees. Landing fees, fuel fees, TSA fees, etc.
