Velo, why are you hitting your head to my post? I only posted the truth, it was not opinionated.

I think you may be a little over your head about the topic and it relates to the chicken and the egg.
RAH isn't filling a void. A void was created for RAH.

No worries though the politics of flying frustrate me to no end.

I understand this, but wont stop people from calling us this. Already experienced it today

Hey.

Did the CEO call you and ask your opinion? NO.

Did the company catch you off guard? YES.

Forget about your union, but is the average line pilot pissed off enough to put people in control that can affect change?

Did you cross a picket line to fly struck work? NO.

You guys are NOT scabs. Screw anyone that says otherwise.

Time for a leadership coup. Get some union leaders that have YOUR long-term interests in mind. Tell them to get real or get out. If UAL, DAL, CAL, AA, SWA may or may not be around by the time you're 65, there's X-Y% of a chance that many of the regionals will either. If your leadership doesn't understand that the E-190 was your newhire position at a carrier higher on the food chain, tell them to kick rocks and go back to the line.

Time for a revolution in leadership at Republic? Perhaps.

Yeah no kidding, I'm just trying to get into it, and my head hurts already! Anyhow, I see what he means now, thanks for the clarification. I still believe Midex could not afford to fly its own routes so it brought RAH to do it....self destruction not just axing pilots for the fun of it...

Well, probably Tim Hoeksema finally solving his "labor problem". Tim's from Kimberly-Clark which was notoriously anti-labor. When we unionized at Skyway, Tim got all pissy and we went from a valued part of the Midwest Express family to evil skydogs that were going to hurt baby Jesus and destroy the world overnight.

Now he can wash his hands of labor, outsource the flying and will shift it to another carrier, if they even survive, to save a few cents. Just you wait.

Doug, From those that I trust who have been at the latest union meetings..I feel like this is happen. Now with IBT we have guys negotiating for us that have negotiated mainline contracts back in the good ole days. Theyve even stated if we fail " you oughta kick us out"...Im optomistic.

Hold their feet to the fire so you can smell the skin singe.

Gosh, I wish our pilot group, in it's entirety, would do the same.

I JS on Mercury flights all the time and I have faith in their pilot group. I've never met one gentleman or lady that hasn't been the utmost professional and courteous. I believe they can hopefully get respectable rates on this aircraft.

You just have to realize you're not a reigonal carrier anymore. You're going to be Midwest airlines. Can the union do something, like get some letter so that when you guys hire again you hire Midwest guys?? Just try to make it right for these guys who are losing their career.

I think too most of the group is professional/courteous. It's not their manners I'm worried about.

I know anecdotes are a dime a dozen. I've heard it with my own ears, "We make enough...A dollar or two more an hour would be fine...We'll just lose flying if we have too expensive a contract....Just look at Comair or XJT."

I'm a little late to this party, but I'm a little confused about something.....if the RAH pilot group had already agreed to 99 seat pay rates....then....doesn't that mean that at SOME point you expected aircraft on property with 99 seats?????

I mean, this particular situation with Midwest may have come out of left field, but it seems to my neanderthal mind that somewhere, sometime, somebody was hoping - nay, planning - that something like this would happen.

Yeah because ExpressJet isn't operating over 200 aircraft for CAL or anything.

(I agree with what you're saying, FYI, I hate hearing it too)

Ugh. A dollar or two more an hour than JetBlue/United rates, I hope.

In this economy I think airlines should want quality over quantity. ExpressJet flights are a joy to be on. I miss your branded so much. I think major carriers need to realize that just the lowest bidder in a request is not everything. Look at us (Mesa) last year. We were cancelling flights left and right because we couldn't even STAFF the airline. Reliability should be #1, cost, service. Or even reliability, service, cost.

I pray for re-regulation. Thank you Obama, I'm glad I voted for you. One step at a time.

...than by condemning the RAH folks, who just happen to be caught in the crossfire between Hoksemma and Bedford.

The RAH pilots are NOT innocent bystanders who "just happen" to be caught in a bad situation. They are enabling the situation because THEY won't support the Midwest pilots and refuse to fly the trips. Sure, they stand in "informational" picket lines. Then they pick up their brain bags and update their MKE charts.

Yes, the lack of scope at Midwest allowed it to happen. But it could not have happened without the pilots willing to operate the jets. No pilots, no flying. Simple.

Everything from anyone I talked to is anger.

You mean this kind of anger? "Man, I'm PISSED about this MidEx business. BTW, if you need me, I'll be in upgrade training."

I guess your anger is tempered by the increased flying and the opportunity to get that PIC time.

I understand this, but wont stop people from calling us this. Already experienced it today

They're wrong. Sorry about that. You can avoid that by wearing your badge backwards I suppose. :sarcasm:

And I'd avoid ALPA jumpseats for awhile, too.

Forget about your union, but is the average line pilot pissed off enough to put people in control that can affect change?

Exactly. I guess they've never heard of "working to rule" or "sick calls." Perhaps they have, but I guess no one is really "angry" enough to employ them.

Time for a leadership coup. Get some union leaders that have YOUR long-term interests in mind....Time for a revolution in leadership at Republic? Perhaps.

Perhaps the leadership is more in tune with what the RAH pilots want than we think. More upgrades, more flying, better lines. Gotta get that PIC time so I can get that sweet legacy gig.

What? AA has 2000 guy on furlough? So does UA? And LCC is furloughing, too? As is Alaska, FedEx and perhaps DAL? Who is doing the flying? Oh yeah, WE (RAH) are. Oopsie! :banghead:

Well I would talk some smack, but my pilot group lost all credibility to do that when 60%+ voluntarily voted for paycuts in my opinion (supposedly the company would've "liquidated" without them, and had all airframes transferred to skywest or republic, but I digress). Granted Skywest and Republic are the price leaders in the regional sector right now, so what they do will largely be viewed as the standard. I think we can all agree that we want to see the quality of life and pay at republic to increase. We would all benefit from that.

By now the FO's who used to say "We'll follow the little guy" on ground freq have learned that's not cool. Maybe with the new airplanes they will need to hire some FO's so I can hear that again, that always makes me laugh in sort of a sad way.

Isn't the Express contract still industry leading AFTER cuts?

;-) I think it would be kind of funny hearing them say that! Bottom line is the guy saying it is still making what most 50 seat FOs make.

Right, the fundamental problem that allowed all this to happen is the lack of scope at midwest, not the RAH pilots. Or is that the ALPA blinders talking again? Would you be singing a different tune is it was an ALPA regional that is operating the 190's?

And sick calls worked real well for the APA guys, right? Now what LEGAL thing can either union do now? Thats right, NOTHING.

Thats EXACTLY what I am saying. But the mentality is to give the Teamsters a chance.
