Aviation Tattoos

Hey, I know this is an odd subject, and this is the best place to put it, but how many of you have a tattoo related to aviation? Where do you have it? What is the tattoo? Any pictures of it? If you're not comfortable answering, that is cool, or if you want to send me a PM. I am just wondering because I want to get a tattoo, but I'm not sure what I want to get. I have thought of something simple, like a cross to express my Christian faith, but some people have suggested getting something related to aviation. Any ideas or suggestions?

Before you go out and get inked make sure this is something you want. I let my idea sit for a year as I kicked it over before I finally went out and got the tattoo. I made sure I got it in an area that I could cover up when I put on my uniform. I haven't kicked myself for getting and I never will.

The quaility of the picture isn't great, and the mirror I used needed a bit of cleaning.

I have a pair of wings tattooed on my wrist. The watch covers it up. Alas, I was (and currently am) flying 135 so I didn't have to take my watch off for security. The first time I jumpseated I realized the error of my ways. The good news is the watch completely covers it up, the bad news is everyone sees it when you're going through security and the watch is off. But I was smart enough to get it small enough that a regular band-aide will cover it up completely. Hind sight, I probably would have gotten it in white instead of black with silver shading, but I'm happy with it. It does what it was intended to do; make me smile on leg 7 of 8 on a 14 hour work day. :)

That's an awesome idea! I want something on my wrist. :rawk:

Tramp Stamp FTW!
No? A tramp stamp is down right above your ass. Like this: http://z.about.com/d/tattoo/1/8/V/B/julieback.jpg

I've been going back and forth for the past few years about getting a pair of wings tattooed on my ankle. Still thinking about it.

I'm tabling the idea for now for the reasons casey mentioned. I kind of regret the first and only tat that I have and I don't want to make the same mistake.
Only reason I havent gotten another one. Cant believe how stupid I was when I got my first one. For the record don't go in to the shop drunk and pick the first one!

I knew a guy who had "Gear Down" tatooed on his right hand after he geared up a navajo.
Thats hilarious!

What I want is to get the USMC combat aircrew wings tattooed across my back with a skull instead of the anchor. At least that's one of about three I have floating around my head. One of which I've wanted for years but I'm still too scarred from my last experience of being dumb.

How about "wings" like the pins pilots wear. I think that'd be hot, if done right. Be sure to keep it in a place that woudl be hidden if you ever wear a uniform. Most airlines frown upon visible tattoos.

Kinda corny, but I've got the wings from every place i've flown for going down my back, small though. In the end i assume it would be like my timeline... and the fading of each tat would kinda give it an appearance of age for each place.

it's not long yet - but i bet it will be the way the industry has gone.

co-worker of mine has a real nice compass rose on his back between his shoulder blades. pretty slick.

i was thinking about getting wings of mercury on my ankles.

discuss.

Hmmn, so if a lady tattoes herself with "Captain (insert your name here)" inside a pair of wings, does a shotgun wedding soon follow??
Henna for me,( cause of work, baby) - India ink for you.....
