Just found out the North American Airlines FA class I was supposed to be in got cancelled due to economic reasons. Crazy thing is that they held at least 6 Open Houses saying they needed between 30-40 FAs (with the possibility of a 2nd class). According to their In-Flight people--the company was doing exceedingly well and was one of the few airlines even hiring at this time. Well, I guess it's back to the ol' drawing board for me. :banghead: :(

Sorry to hear that. Any other places you were considering?

Damn is right... that sucks! :(

Hope things work out in the long run with whatever you come up with.

That sucks big ones...sorry to hear it. What will it take to land the JetBlue job?? Can you quickly learn some Espanol??

I saw airtran a couple of days ago.

That application has been in for a while, but haven't heard anything yet.

Haha! Got turned down since I'm not bilingual. Pretty funny that I have to speak another language to get a job in my own country. :banghead:

That is a shame! But rest assured even bi & trilingual people don't get jobs because their language does not "cater" to the average nationality of "clientele"... ;)

Be patient Q - there is greener grass just around the corner.

Sorry for the bad news. Good luck with the job hunt. I didn't know one had to be fluent in Spanish to work there. :(

So, being able to speak English and Jersey wasn't enough? :D

Sorry to hear of the disappointment, but, like others have said... Chin up!

Keep searching, P. Everything for the best, right? Just because this opportunity isn't ready for you yet, doesn't mean there isn't another opportunity just begging for you to jump on it (and I'm not talking about Velo or Calcapt, either! haha!)

Sorry to hear Q. You didn't resign at the Colgan yet did you?

Qgar is from Staten Island. And while a bridge connects good 'ole Paradise Island to New Jersey, it is very different. Proficency in Jersey, yes; fluency, no. :D

I think NAA has been doing alot of AMC work, and my friend at a competing firm to NAA does the same.

Perhaps the ebb and flow of the AMC contracts is occurring, so you may want to check out some other airlines that do that type of work if you have your heart set on flying on the big iron.

If it's for the NYC base, then I'm not sure what to recommend....

Yes I did, but did so before the NAA opportunity presented itself.

I'm assuming AMC has something to do with military charters??

yes.

Omni and World are the other two big players if that is the type of flying that you want to do. They 'may' home-base crew members, I'm not sure. It seemed like that almost all of them flew to ATL from BGR. I think both of those are HQ there.

There are tons of Omni DC-10s sitting around at ATL. Some World, but not nearly as many, from a casual glance. Omni is actually HQ'd in Tulsa of all places, but the pilots, at least, are home based, and I get the sense that ATL is a hub of some sort. No idea about World.
