Come on people, try and visualize yourself at age 60 and having the man tell you that you are "too old" to fly. The story really hits hard when you are taking the epaulets off 10 years before your friends with other jobs even think of retiring; and then staring at that retirement account thinking "How am I going to have an enjoyable retirement with THIS amount of money?". My grandpa was a sharp knife at 75 years old, still hamming it up on his radio and flying his piper. HOWEVER, that being said, i completely understand the health concerns. I wouldn't be against the idea of requiring 65+ folk needing a medical every 2 months or even every month for that matter to make sure there aren't any conditions about to blindside them. I don't want to get political, but with the way things are going, they will need all the buffer time they can get before retirement. Let's face it, social security is OVER. Why don't YOU put your money where your mouth is and tell a 65 year old man in perfectly good health that he can't fly simply because it's a 'rule' that he must retire at that age. Seriously, how is that fair? Because only the government can legally practice age discrimination...
