Interesting call from ATP

It's great that ATP will let you (past students/instructors) use the sims.

However, I don't think ATP really cares that you keep your skills toned. Their interest is having you get hired and getting your face on their ATP website. That's fine, it's a business. Then they can get a bunch of new customers to buy their program because they are "getting hired!" --> ATP gets lots of money. -->ATP needs lots of money to pay their instuctors. --> ATP needs instructors to teach students. --> Students to eventually become instructors/airline pilots. --> Said students face on ATP website. --> Back to ATP gets lots of money.

I'm just hoping that the instructor that just got the call and was told they could get hired at GoJets will use google and find this site, even this thread. Maybe then they'll figure out there is more to GoJets and do some research on their own.

I have to same problem, is not MR.Lind but my initals...aslo it will be instructed time so you can get current and all that jazz...

Which one is it??? With an instructor present or not? If so, what instructor(s) are going to get stuck with that awful job?

WILL BE an instructor present so you can get current........The chief pilot will be doing the sim sessions... Sorry, I suppose I don’t know how to properly use the quote feature because I tried to quote mshunter, and respond to his question.
 
Do you happen to know if this is ATP approved or is it a case of Dave feeling bad for the guys who have finished the program and aren't flying?
 
Just wanted to throw in another viewpoint/factoid...

I finished the program last June in ATL and did not return to ATP, went to work for a friend in OK and the biz failed, pasture is greener on the other side and all that jazz. So I am back on the list (hiring) with ATP to be an instructor. Number 30 or something like that. No call from anyone at ATP about getting in the FTD to get current. Just thought I would throw that out there. Muxst be isolated to PHX and you just let the cat outta the bag. Or maybe Jim is smarter than the rest of us and authorized it like someone else said. To keep the instructors proficient in a seminole.

In the meantime I have been trying to find an instructing gig back southeast. Found one! They operate on three airports within 40 nm of each other. They might be blowing smoke up my ass, but according to the owners, they have 29 full time students! And they just hired me, bought another airplane, and want to operate out of another airport within 40nm of the other two. So, I don't believe that rumor about letting go of more instructors. Word I hear is Stands is back on, once a month. Just have to see how long it lasts.

Thought: has it not been said that during a downturn the number of people enrolling in school goes up? Any school! Just a thought...

Everyone here has read and said...The industry is in the crapper, there are no jobs (instructor or otherwise), there is no money to be made. I don't buy into that crap. I don't take a cut in pay to work as an instructor (even though that's all my TT will allow).

I think that it is time to strap em on and lace em up. This industry is going to have to pull itself out of the trench by the bootstraps.

Done with the rant....And I would love to get back into a FTD! I hear that is what many jobs use to judge your flying skills by!!

And oh yeah...made it all the way through without mentioning Hojets!!

Good lord are you trying to get every post in the ATP section closed. Give it a rest!!!! We know your position and Surreal has answered accordingly, drop it!!! Let the rest of us actually talk about something without this coming up.

Does anyone else think it is amusing to see the ATP Flight School on the side of the post with the word "newbie" underneath? Down markets and all, but we havent lost our sense of humor, right?:D

It never ends. Peoples hate for something causes them to lurk in forums that they have absolutley no reason to be in other than to issue slander. Show some professionalism boys. Atleast type up something that isn't so negative. Rather than flaming someone, why not post your point of view. "You guys sucks, and are wrong. Your also a couple of jerks who know nothing" never solved anything in the real world, so why would it work here?

Just realize one thing. Aviation is a small community. People talk. And using these forums to vent your frustration of your dislike for a flight school/company that you know nothing about just may turn around to bite you one day. Both jobs I have have come from these very forums. Keep that in mind next time you decide to flame someone. They just may be your next boss.

Edit: If it were my company, I'd be in here to to see what kind of B.S. people were spewing. If I found out about it, and knew who it was, they'd be issued a pink slip, or as a student, asked to leave.
 
People shouldn't feel compelled to have to say nothing, especially on a public forum, for fear of retribution.

However, there are productive ways to do it. If making a complaint about a problem that you know to be true, make it respectfully, combined with offering a solution.

Now dont get your dander up, hunter, it was a joke. I am one of the few people on the forums that actually enjoyed my time at ATP, learned a lot, loved instructing at ATP and what it has done for my career. It is a quality school with quality people running it. I pointed out something I find funny. ...and I still find it funny.

Oh, and I am also one of the few people that loves the MX department there too- and I am positive that it is because I know what they do.

Oh, and it will be a cold day in Hell when I 1.) Publicly bad mouth a company that pays my salary and 2.) Watch what I say for fear of who might be listening to make me pay in the future. I dont buy this "small community so never speak your mind" BS.
