Interesting call from ATP

I got a phone call from Susan today at ATPin PHX. She said that Dave was offering some free sim time to stay proficent at the PHX location to students that had been through the program and passed. Her words were that Dave understands how rough times are right now, and if your in the area, to stop buy and have a go at the sims. Now, name one other company that has done that. I think it just goes to show what kind of company ATP realy is, that they would do that to help out former grads of their program. I wish I was local, I'd go down and have a whach at the 142 for old times sake.:bandit:

Ms. Hunter, the instructors probably dont have any business since they are now partners with gojets. They are probably bored out of their mind, so Jims Kozarski told them to call old students as a marketing ploy for the future, just hoping that somebody would praise the move on a public message board and some future students might see.

Ahhh, looks like pipepatrol heard about ATP calling instructors and telling them that they could get them a job with GoJet. And no, I am not talking about the Gulfstream/PFT/PFJ thing, this is a whole different one. That's right, now ATP is trying to convince some of their senior instructors to go to GoJet. All so they can put there names on the website under the "Airline Placements" section and those instructors that fall for that crap will have their smiling faces next to a GoJet logo.

Now, back to the original topic of the thread. Mshunter, I would say that letting former students use the sim is a sign of Dave's kindness, not the company as a whole. Dave is a great guy and that doesn't surprise me that he would do that. I doubt that former JAX students are gonna be over at the headquarters at Ponte Vedra Beach using the seminole sim. As far as I know, every other ATP location (besides PHX) requires an instructor be present when the students use the sim. It's not like in PHX where students have 24 hour access to the sim room and can use them on their own at night.

I hope the ATP instuctors aren't dumb enough to go to GoJets... If some ATP instructors are considering GoJets, I hope they do some RESEARCH about GoJets...

That's all.

I need to change my name. M first initial of first name, S first initian of 1st last name, Hunter is last part off last name.:banghead:

From what I understand, it is not going to be instructed time, but even still, it's a nice jesture.

Edit: Poo Poo on GoJet. I'd rather flip burgers in a Tijuana prision camp.

Who cares, if the info I have been getting is true TSA and GoJet aren't going to be around by the end of the year.

Ya know, maybe that Moleman guy DID have a point. Someone comes on here and posts about something positive that is going on at ATP and it is immediately derailed into something negative, even bringing up some other subject. Honestly...is that really called for?

[modhat]Alright folks, just a preemptive strike here but lets keep it on the road. If it turns into another GoJet pissing match it will be shutdown in no time. [/modhat]

Ok....I have been lurking here for a long time, and this is my first reply. I don't log in every day as some obviously do, but this is the first time I have seen a moderator step in and do something proactive. Thank you JEP. Maybe we can have a discussion without all of the angst that this particular group (surreal1221, juxtapilot, guywhoflies) seems intent on injecting into any calm and reasonable discussion they particpate in.

Nice gesture, good to hear of something like that after I've heard stories of all the negative treatment friends have gotten going through ATP.

I said what I wanted to say. I won't beat this dead horse anymore.

Where is moleman? What ever happened to him? He must be busy over in Ponte Vedra selling people on the idea that Gulfstream is a great place. Anyway, I agree that what Dave is doing is awesome. Like I said, he is a great guy who truly cares about his instructors and students. I wouldn't say ATP (as a whole) is doing anything great. Is Kris doing the same thing for ex-GKYer's?]

Edit: ok now I am done beating the horse, it finally died for good.

Angst?

What exactly did I contribute to this thread but replying to someone else's quote, of which you don't feel the need to place within parenthesis.

Angst? What angst?

Somehow saying that it'll suck when two companies disappear is angst? What a change emotions have taken in the 21st century.

wow... this thread is rediculous!

ATP wants to give some of thier former clients some sim time (probably to help keep thier instructors sharp while its slow) and then the discussion turns into the good ol' GoJet ranting! unbeleivable...

:yeahthat: Som e people have nothing better to do than bitch about something. Life must be preaty boring.

Edit: Sim time comes w/out the instructor(I think). Totally useless, but it can help at keeping you somewhat proficent.

Anyone I know from ATP Trenton (former student) is welcome to use the simulator for currency. And about the GoJets deal, I never received a call, after instructing for ATP for 2yrs. Ah, I never thought they were anything special if that anyways. AirGuard looks like a better/smarter option if you qualify. My own $.02

I've heard there may be another round of instrucor cutbacks. Any truth?

I wouldn't doubt it. My buddy from ERAU PRC says they are running scared so far 5 managorial positions were lost and 7 instructors let go. ATP has cut back more than that collectively but it wouldn't surprise me if they made more cuts. However, it will be the recent bunch that get let go I'm sure. They have implemented the GS program (which I don't believe has or is going to generate much, I could be wrong) and also the glass cockpit program, they are getting what they can get. As much as noone likes the GS program (myself included) it is a way for current ATP instructors to keep their coveted, highly overworked job! I consider myself blessed and complain as little as possible. If I have an issue I take a look at the furlough numbers and say a prayer for myself to keep this job but also for those pilots looking for work.
