I have spoken to DAE but they are not hiring at the moment.
I just thought MAC might taken on a guy who is already rated with a bunch of PIC time in the ATR

I don't think theres a chance you'd be hired as a street captain. I know for a fact that there are some FO's that would hurt you.![]()
I understand the reasoning behind it but still, if someone is more qualified than you then what can you do. I've always hated that attitude that I've done my time here I should get the job over someone with 2x more experience yada yada.

The problem is though, there are plenty of qualified people (alot of the FO's at MAC are way more qualified than regional and corporate FO's)-all they lack is a PIC type. Should someone with a PIC type thats not current be hired over another. Survey says.....NO!
Go fly in India.... they need ATR guys there.
I'm holding out for Vietnam.
But about your friend in PR, I had heard some of those guys were a real pain in the back side (no offense intended) ie MEL, showing late...Plus, its not that MAC wouldn't pay for the type, FedEx wouldn't pay for the type. FedEx told the Mountain to hire heavy last year, they did and now theres no work for them. Guys are sitting reserve for weeks on end with no flying (they can come give me some time off!). I hate the fact that guys got laid off though.

I agree with you, Mac was not nice to the F27 FO and should have offered him a spot on the ATR or C208. But my personnal opinon tell me it was not due to financial issues, since the F27 captain is in ATR training as we speak. I have my personnal opinion on the subject why they let him go, since I am not in management I can only speculate for the real reason from the company rumors mill, and will not put them on the internet ).
As for the street captain it has been done in the past, but you have to give them credit in the last 1.5 year they have upgraded 8 FO and none of them had prior experience as a captain in heavy turboprop or jet ( 1 guy used to be a FE on A300 ), and all came from within.
MAC is a small company with no seniority ( = seniority is there only if it is in company favor everything is base on merit ...very subjectif.... ), if you are willing to move anywhere, anytime, and show you can do the job you can move pretty fast up the ladder, ask the last guy they upgraded !!!.
I agree with you, I was chocked when I learned they decided to furlough him. Hopefully he has been able to find something else, ameriflight was looking for FO on EMB120 in BQN.
I just think it really stinks.

Are they still heavy on caravan pilots? Last time I talked to Barron in Vichey , they were overloaded with old guys that weren't leaving anytime soon!
