NYC PEPC peoples

Got my TOL yesterday! Started at around 11:00 and got out of there a little after 4:00!

They estimated an academy date of sometime around July for most people but they said my clearance might be delayed  Since I have a Secret clearance and I'm waiting for my TS the FAA can't initiate a new investigation so they just have to wait for my Top Secret to come through...

Did anyone else get like 4 forms from their HR rep to fill out today? BR emailed me a crap ton. I thought it was over till OKC. Damn.

Yeah I got them too... actually as soon as I left the PEPC, went to my car and I had the email as soon as I checked my phone!

Yeah I got them too, one of which I already filled out and sent back a while ago... oh well they must need more copies or it got misplaced. Hey congrats to all who went to NYC this week! We are one step away!

I just got accepted into a doctorate program today also, so if anything falls through with ATC my backup plan is in place.

Having options...awesome!

Did any of you who went to the NYC PEPC actually get a firm or tentative but specific class date for the academy?

Just curious to see if the "hiring freeze" rumor is effecting PUBNAT3/4.

Hey man ...did they say when our estimated OKC start date will be?

I was told to expect june though I secretly still have a little hope for may. I know Barty is in May for zme so hopefully i will get put in(I dont really believe this but who knows).

Enroute per my HR Rep is not affected by the hiring holds.

Woohoo! TOL in hand and back to waiting!

The PEPC went pretty smooth for our group today; the only real hold-up was with the medical screening. Since we had a pseudo-order in which we all did our stuff, we ended up having a bottleneck for the physicals because there was only one doctor there. I think we had about 6 in line at one point for an exam that takes 20-30 minutes, so that held up a few of us. Otherwise, we still made it out under the time listed on the PEPC e-mail, so I'm happy! I came in at 8 and was out at 1:15 or somewhere around there, and I was one of the last in our group to get done (I got chatty with my interviewer - who, by the way, was awesome; I had the facility manager for ELP, and he was so helpful and easy to talk to).

The interviewers are, as have been listed before, so eager to see you succeed, but they still want you to prove it to them. Don't be nervous at all going in to the process. I measured 126/82 for my blood pressure screening, so it can't be THAT bad! I think the physical was the most, uh... difficult part, but some of that is because I've never had a full physical like this done for anything.

The HR folks are so nice and so laid back, so you may have a different opinion of what HR employees are like after you come to the PEPC! Terri reminded me of Queen Latifah as far as personality goes - she's awesome!

We were told to expect July for a class date just because April was pretty much full. I'd still like a late May class, but hey, any class date before the end of summer would be fine by me!

rulerofthesky and I got to hang out, and she mentioned something that really holds true -- these forums provided a great resource for those of us potentially nervous about the process. I felt relaxed and at ease going in to what I hope is my last job interview ever (unless, much to ATLTRACON's chagrin, I decided to move to "manglement"), so thanks to all those who went before us and provided us with some primers on everything.

If i match your picture to what i thought i saw...you are in the hotel room across from me JERM LOL

TOL IN HAND

It's always hard to tell who's here for what; I had one of the nurses spot me this morning on my way to the hotel elevator and said, "I know what you're here for..." And when we were being escorted around, one of the ladies actually referenced one of my posts on here. I forgot her name, but "Hi!" And it's too bad I didn't know you were right there, because I would've asked you to join rulerofthesky and me for breakfast this morning or me for dinner at the opulent Burger King.

The only reason I'm up on the top floor is because my dad travels a lot for work and only stays at Marriott hotels for the rewards points... BEHOLD, PLATINUM ELITE STATUS! I even got a goodie bag with cookies and water when I checked in!

And yes, that's me in the picture. I'm the one on the right.

Those cookies were so good! When they handed them to me my first thought was "do i have to pay for these?" being NY and all.

woo hoo! TOL in hand. However, a quick question. Let's say hypothetically, I have had a criminal offence involving a decriminalized narcotic 5 years ago. Security and medical are both aware. The flight surgeon needs a substance abuse evaluation asap. Assuming I fax one to him in a timely manner, how long, if at all, would my application be delayed?

It may just be specific to our HR rep and when they send them out. There was an FAA Fact sheet, Employment agreement, OF0306, and SF144. Simple stuff.

Pilot- I do believe I was at your PEPC. I'm usually pretty good at names, but remember no one from the PEPC. ha. From upstate NY, right?

The HR Rep that gave me my TOL was really nice. Told her I was trying to get married in early May. She looked up LFT specifically for me and told me I'd be just fine, but to make sure it's in early May. So maybe that May 21 class will be open. That'd be good. Hopefully I'll see you at the academy, if not I'll definitely see you at work.

Hey man, yeah I'm from upstate NY. My name is Matt. I faxed over those forms yesterday. It's good to see they are working quickly on our application process. What was your HR rep able to find about LFT? A May 21st date would be great. I'm already counting down the days.

The lady that gave me my TOL was really sympathetic with my situation. She booted up that laptop they had on their desk next to them and looked into... like a really big excel spreadsheet with every facility in it. Found LFT and was looking at when the class dates would be available. Pretty awesome. She wouldn't give me specifics and I couldnt look close enough to see everything, but she said it definitely wouldn't be before early may, but not to push it any later than that.
The catalog is updated all the way through the end of FY2009 (Sept.). I would think possibly May 21 or June 3. Either would be great.
