PUBNAT 5- Announcement ending 7/31

Mine changed about .2 points, but I was just curious if it was happening to other people. I had heard that it does happen from time to time. Maybe it means something else will happen soon too? (I can't help but be overly optimistic).

I think this is a fair bit optimism. They are viewing our scores and preping geo preference emails?!?! I know that is a small step, but I seriously hate my job right now and would love for this to be the case!

I hope, I hope, I hope!! I'm in the same boat. I wouldn't go so far as to say i really hate my job, just kind of hate my job. Let's keep our fingers crossed :)

Yeah, lots of people from various announcements have seen their AT-SAT score change on them without warning. It's pretty bad practice, but nothing much we can do about it. Welcome to the FAA.

I think the scores probably changed because they used the data from our testing group to sort of tweak the grading scale...maybe. I remember the testing guys say something about the scores from every testing group being used to determine future scores or something weird like that...

Well I get that scores from previous tests would affect later ones, but I guess I'm surprised that they would alter scores after they had already been posted. A retroactive curve if you will. But, technically it is something new, so I guess it's exciting to see the process moving along.

Oh who knows. Maybe it has to do with that psych part at the end...oooooor, maybe they watch the videos and then alter our scores based on what they see ;) I dunno. Heres hoping we get to do geo prefs within the next two weeks.

Haha. I hope they don't watch the videos. The camera adds ten pounds!

lol im hoping they dont watch the videos too but for a different reason. i had to be on computer 1 with the camera right in my face. so i kept waving at it and giving different hand signs as i would get up and come back for breaks. i dont think i did anything vulgar with my hands but just in case :D

Does anyone know how the state selection process works on the geo pref emails? Like are the two states viewed equally, or do they give you preference on the first, and if there's nothing there then they go to your second selection? Or do they put you in both states and select the most qualified people? I thinik it would be logical to put you in both if you're qualified, but I don't know if anyone else sees it the same way.

It was mentioned today in pubnat 3 by BIGEY an app for california who called the avations careers division and they said they are looked at by your first then your second they dont carry the same weight. Not a known fact just repeating what someone else posted in a thread prior I think I might be waiting with you all, I applied to 3 and 4 and wasnt selected yet I might be waiting with you all.

Oh, ok. I'm not sure that makes the most sense, but whatever. Like if I put AZ as my first and there's no openings, and I put UT as my second, they could take someone with a lower score for UT cause they put it first? How does that make sense?

It doesnt make any sense what so EVER! But that's what was told to me!

Dont worry, some higher ups in OKC are gonna be getting a call from me, to completely straighten this out, because if this is the fact, they're not following their own procedures and that's BS.

I have a semi-bitter taste in my mouth after all of this....

Well if that's the way it actually is I'm fairly speechless. They're supposed to take the most qualified, but won't unless they put a certain state number one. Whatever. Time to cross the fingers and asking various deities for help.

im with bigey on this one. i applied for 3 and 4 and saw people with lower scores than me get picked. i picked ny and pa and also noted in the comments that i was willing to go anywhere...

It almost seems like if you score above a certain score they should just offer you a place elsewhere if you don't get your first choice...I mean, why would you let someone with say a 97 sit around twiddling their thumbs and take someone who got an 84 instead? Oh well. They don't make much sense to me anyway...

They should offer you a spot for scoring a certain score. I can't think of any conceivable reason that makes sense for why someone with a 97 should be flapping in the breeze because he didn't pick the right states. I mean, offer somewhere, and if the higher scores don;t want it, then go to the lower people. Makes sense to me

Very reasonable and logical method. Which is, of course, the primary reason the FAA cannot use that method. I'm starting to get a little freaked out about this geo pref nonsense now! At first it was kind of just a little "eh, whatever" step and now apparently it actually plays a big role.
