PUBHI

Luckily in my industry, we have periods of time where one can go hour or so without checking JC.

Unfortunately, my city has waay too much downtime.

zz ;)

i just had an epiphany....

if we're going to be ATC in hawaii.. where the hell do we get to go for vacations?

a different island?

I guess australia isn't TOO bad albeit an insanely long sit in a plane.. i think there's a nonstop from HNL...

but seriously.. I bet you after a few years on the islands you'll find yourself saying "I'd love to go back to oakland and see a drive-by for my next vacation"

any ideas for better non-hawaii vacations?

hawaii people seem to be OBSESSED with going to vegas. why? dont know

as for me... for a cheap vacation i just check in at a nice hotel in waikiki and pretend to be a tourist for the weekend. familiar, but still nice :)

Someone over at stuckmic just got an email for HCF... good luck guys :)

Congratulations! You have been chosen for further consideration for an Air Traffic Control Specialist (ATCS) position at the (HCF) Honolulu Control Facility in Honolulu, Hawaii.

The next step in the process is for you to decide if you would like to accept or decline this offer and if you accept which procedure you would like to use to complete your pre-employment processing. You will be receiving correspondence from several different offices. Please respond to all correspondence/emails/telephone messages. You must respond to this inquiry in order to be scheduled for an interview. Your options are:

1. Pre-Employment Processing Centers (PEPCs). This is an expedited method of processing that includes your interview, security screening, medical evaluation, psychological evaluation and drug test. All of these activities are completed in one day (approximately 7 hours from the time you arrive). If you choose to attend a PEPC, please be advised that all travel costs incurred will be at your own expense.

2. “Traditional” Non-PEPC Process. This process begins with you being scheduled for an interview at an FAA facility location close to where you live. If you have successfully completed your interview and are recommended, the Aviation Careers Division will provide you with the information required to schedule the remaining pre-employment processing steps.

We have scheduled PEPCs for the weeks of:

1. February 23, 2009 in Jamaica, NY,
2. March 23, 2009 in Chicago, IL, and
3. April 20, 2009 in Los Angeles, CA.

All terminal candidates will be processed on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of those weeks. Wednesday and Thursday interview slots will be filled first. We will be processing approximately 50 candidates per day. Once those slots are completely utilized, candidates will be scheduled for interviews on Friday if needed. With this arrangement, we plan to accommodate everyone while using our staff in the most efficient manner.

What you need to do today or not later than the close of business on (Friday, February 6, 2009), is respond to this email with the following information:

1. Decide if you would like to accept or decline this offer. If you decide to decline the ATCS position being offered, let us know. This decision must be in writing. If you want to discuss issues related to your future eligibility for other facilities, you need to contact the Aviation Careers Division at 405.954.4657.

2. Review your contact information provided above (name, address, phone numbers, email address) and provide any corrections or updates. If you have not updated your information in ASAP, you need to do so in addition to providing corrections to us for the interview process.

3. If you would like to attend one of the PEPCs identified above, provide the PEPC, day and date preference: Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, 1st and 2nd choices.

4. If you would like to proceed with the “Traditional” Non-PEPC process, let us know and we will get you scheduled for an interview near where you live.

We will acknowledge your response by return email. If you choose one of the PEPCs identified above, we will confirm your reservation in that email. Another message will follow from our PEPC coordinator with your appointment time and additional information you will need, forms to complete, etc.

We look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible and definitely by Friday, February 6, 2009. Remember: The earlier you respond to this message, the better your opportunity will be for attending the PEPC of your choice.

Please let us know if we can be of any assistance.

CONGRATS:nana2:
I'm slated for HCF and headed for OKC in a few days. Are you thinking of going to one of those PEPCs? I went the non PEPC route and it took me a looooooong time to get to this point. It didn't help that I had a few speed bumps along the way though.
Good luck with everything!!!

Congrats to you too!!!

aww, you guys.. thanks!

can someone tell me how long it took them to get the PEPC packet in the mail? I'm considering trying for the NY pepc but I'm thinking that March would be better suited for time and money and all that.. being too pressed for time is a bad thing but the sooner the better for getting into OKC the way I see it.

scratch that.. i'm going in march. no sense in risking being in too much of a hurry.
