There's a few other instructors who went to Dan and said they would leave if he hired you. Not going to name anyone's name for I don't want to create any problems. Just thought I would let you know.
I agree with you totally. If you haven't read my other posts in multi-time PM bout the pipeline job I know the guy whos doing the hiring for next season.
Look, jhugz just likes to stir the pot
That's called flamebaiting, and it's not supposed to be tolerated around here. He should have been permanently banned a long time ago.
Really I just pissed off Sparks...I am fine with Dan.
Well Sparks and London are attached at the butt...so I am sure they said it. Plas hates everyone so I am sure he said it. I really don't want to FI there...but may be a last resort. DAN is all about the money. If I bring students to him there is no way he will not put me on his insurance.
First, as a newly minted CFI you really shouldn't be in the business of pissing anyone off. There are ways to stand your ground or make a point without making yourself unhireable.
Man I respect you...you just have no clue the soap opera that our home airport is.
Your other comments tend to show a certain crassness that may be turning people off.
Sorry
Now, I do not know the back-story on this melodrama, but wouldn't it stand to reason that if you had some kind of extreme ability to attract students you could make a fine living simply free-lancing? That doesn't seem to be the case.
It is a contractor gig...you really arn't employed, just added to his insurance. John and I both know this guy is all about the bucks. The airport is hurting and if I would get a couple students through freelance I am sure I could use his plane.
Thanks for the advice...I really do appreciate it. I really don't like to burn bridges or get in fights I guess I just have a confrontational personality. I think people can be pretty opinionated (myself included) and if I don't agree with it I will let you know. If others handle it wrong...I don't know what I can say but sorry.
PCL you need to chill bro. You are going to give yourself a stroke over one of my threads.
I'd really, really, really recommend you find a way to curtail that, because it will hurt you in ways you can't imagine in this industry.
This is one heck of a small industry. I can't tell you the number of times I got into a cockpit and said to the guy, "Where'd go to school...oh, Kent? You this guy? How about this guy? Yeah his brother was the best man in my wedding, he's a Metro driver. Oh that guy? He joined the Marines, he's gonna go fly F/A-18's for them. Yeah he is one crazy mother####er! He was great!"
How many is a couple?
I count over 20 airports in North East Ohio going north and east from Akron. All are within about an hours drive of each other.
In five minutes of internet searching I find three that at least say on their websites that they are hiring instructors.
JHugz I'm going to have to disagree with you on this one. Given this time of year theres not much going on here in NE Ohio but come spring there will be plenty of activity as usual. Your problem is you pissed off to many people at Skypark and Dan won't let you instruct there. You know as well as I do that both ground schools are full starting in two weeks and there will be a abundance of students come May as there always is. Just look at the website on the front page and see how many students graduated this year. You just made a bad decision by alienating yourself with pretty much everyone at the airport. I feel for you and I hope you can find work somewhere but unfortunaly I think you have ruined your chances anywhere in NE Ohio. Just keep your head up and looking and remember NEVER burn bridges! You never know where your next job oppurtiny might come from. If i hear of anything I will let you know.
Anyone have cliff notes on this thread?
Anyone have cliff notes on this thread?
Marcus I am not sure what you meant by that haha. But for your posting about Skypark on another thread I am going to assume that you think Skypark is a bad place to work. And I respect your opinion if that it is. But regardless of working conditions the shear volume of students that come through Skypark make it very attracting. I will again direct you to our homepage so you can count for yourself (22) the number of people who earned either a certificate or rating over the summer and theres still about 5 or so who haven't finished yet. Plus the movie theater and two hot tubs are enough to keep me from ever burning this bridgeMarcus I welcome you to come visit one day since your from NE Ohio and I'll show you around so you can make your own judgement of Skypark. I'm also curious where you fly out of? I'd like to fly the Cherokee there so I can see the difference between the your flight school and Skypark. PM me.
