More fine reporting from the aviation experts at CNN about two 747s over Scotland.
"Even though they were miles away, at one point one plane was just 100 feet above the other!"
Did any of the "up to 1,000" passengers even realize there was a traffic conflict?
I had a near miss like that in my car once up in Sonoma County as I was pulling into my driveway. My neighbor and I were both in cars on the road. His driveway was 1286ft MSL and it's extended center crossed right over the extended center of mine. My driveway elevation was 1310ft MSL. 24 ft difference!
So the guy turns into his driveway (the extended center of which crosses mine) just before I get to my driveway. Dude, it was the scariest thing ever... He turns into his driveway and I turn into mine AT THE SAME TIME. It was like I saw my life pass before my eyes. We missed killing each other by only 3.5 miles and 24ft vertical. His driveway is in Mendocino county.
I'm curious what those types thought of guys in Jetstreams and Metros hand spinning the props!
