Your perceptions needed on the how cockpit positional assignments impact safety

What's your name? When are you not home? Where do you hide the keys? What sort of valuables do you have?

I’d like to rent the Huey.

She’s not available to rent, but she is for sale.

How much?

Two million dollars.

My pilot will have to take it for a test flight.

Yes, of course. You just have to leave a deposit.

How much?

Two million dollars.

To the OP, man, I feel for you, but survey based graduate thesis (theseii?) or dissertation projects are a nightmare.

They’re a never ending loop of non-critical thought, regurgitation of other peoples’ weak arguments with a dollop of bizarre and Byzantine editorial control by advisors. And for what?

Either you have to pull a topic completely out of your rear end, have some subject that’s really weak that you need to tease into 60 pages of barely related research citations, or suck up to the advisor to see what their pet project was so you can get a free pass.

By the way, no independent thought is allowed. If a concept was truly new or innovative, someone would have done it before you. The best you can hope for is you have a decent project, but you have to still wrap a stupid survey around it to make it “legit” in the eyes of your advisor, because God knows, no one out there has any kind of industry experience in the real, actual world.

I love the chance of gift card angle. Nothing like bribing people to complete a survey to ensure accurate/honest responses.

Is that passes for SOP in the Ivory Tower these days?

Wow... so much bitterness. Did somebody get their thesis project stomped on once upon a time?

I currently do a bunch of work in this arena, and pretty much nothing you said (other than the gift card thing) is the true.

Nope. Sailed through three degrees. 2 STEM and 1 that I wouldn't classify as such. Plenty of research in multiple fields to go with it.

Don't even get me started on the phony baloney "peer reviewed publication" racket. Send your paper with the right buzzwords to some of your drinking/smoking buddies and call it good.

Not a fan of academia, at least in it's current form. Mostly good people, but its a bad system.

When you can get a PhD in genders studies... you know we’ve lost.

I mean, it's got an IRB disclosure front and center on the page when you go there. Or whatever.
