Your biggest aviation pet peeves..

I see what you did there...:beer:

I re-read my entire post in that frame of mind... unfortunately, it created a clear mental picture of attempting to figure out what to do with the legs in the RG! :dunno:

:D

Biplanes, traildraggers, Radials.

:rotfl:

You are the anti-Christ.

Planes on wheels period.

I see your radial tail draggers and raise you these:

All original radial tail draggers, just much better with floats. Check and mate.

Pilots who are waaay too uptight in the cockpit(acting like we are in a dogfight or something)

Pilots who blow things out of proportion/over exaggerate situations

Pilots who come in low and add a bunch of power on final when they had plenty of altitude to begin with

Pilots who say "No Joy" when looking for traffic

Pilots who don't/barely acknowledge line guys

Pilots who tell you to do something you are already doing(climb to an altitude you are at, turn to a heading you are flying)

Pilots who stutter/mumble/trip over words on the radio(I really don't care when pilots use the wrong lingo, I just can't stand when they just trip over every word) Ta, ta, ta, taday Junior!

When people spell "a lot" incorrectly on aviation message boards.

Perhaps this common spelling error began because there does exist in English a word spelled “allot” which is a verb meaning to apportion or grant. The correct form, with “a” and “lot” separated by a space is perhaps not often encountered in print because formal writers usually use other expressions such as “a great deal,” “often,” etc.

What is it with people's hatred for stutterers? It's not like they do it on purpose to annoy you. Maybe I'm being a little overly emotional on this subject, but one of my sons stutters sometimes, and quite frankly, if I ever catch anyone giving him grief over it, I'm not very nice, to put it mildly.

I knew as soon as I posted that somebody would say something.

I knew a guy who stuttered horribly when having a conversation. When he spoke on the radio, it was beatiful, clear, and concise. What I was more referring to was working with guys who I know don't stutter at all, but when they get on the radio, they push-to-think, not push-to-talk.

I didn't mean any offense, it's mostly when I'm working with somebody who just doesn't know how or what to say on the radio, and basically get a deer in the headlight look when we get a radio call.

Pilots who say "No Joy" when looking for traffic

It's quick, easy, and everyone knows what it means. But, in all honesty I started saying it because I knew a Dbag instructor who railed against it but couldn't be bothered with pesky little things like checklists or tight patterns.

My pet peeve is pilots who complain about silly things.

I say my callsign is looking, or not in sight

This thread is entitled "Your biggest aviation pet peeves".....it's an entire thread on complaining about silly things.

What do you say when you are flying a left traffic pattern and flying a downwind leg?

left downwind....

at least that's what I was taught.

right downwind would put you at the same exact position but going 180deg the other way
