XJET Flows

Haven't posted much though I'm here everyday reading, and I would like to say I was hired by XJET on the 14th for the June 4th class.

The question is, I have been studying the flows and have all the first officer ones down and I think I know the answer to this, but do we need to memorize the captians as well? Anyways, thanks for any feedback and looking forward to starting with this great company!

P.S.- Anyone have the most current info on the cleveland base as far as junior or not, and what the reserve times and lines look like out of there? I am origionally from northwest Ohio so it would be nice to get back that way.

:panic:

Yes, you need to know the Captain flows, but not as thorough as you need to know the First Officer ones. You will fly in the left seat as "Captain: PNF" for all sims with your partner. It is important to know those flows to back up your buddy.

In addition to that, it is helpful to know the Captain flows out on the line, so you know if something is missed. I still know what the FO must do, so that I recognize when he or she might have missed something. I hope that my FO does the same for me.

I'd shoot a PM to Bob, although he may very well see this thread. He should be able to answer your questions.

What am I? Chopped liver?

Ahh, just kidding. Bob's an excellent resource, and you can invarably take what he says to the bank. I don't think there's a single Xjet guy here who won't bend over backwrds to help you though, so don't hesitate to PM or ask any of us anything.

As for Cleveland, I'm afraid I have a bit of troubling news. You can probably hold the base, no problem, but you will be on reserve for most of your probationary year, and upgrade in base will be pretty long too. Like 4 years or more. Almost everyone who is based there is from Cleveland or somewhere close, consequently no one goes anywhere. Exacerbating this is that they cut lines from time to time, and overall XJT presence there seems to be shrinking.

A ray of hope: this information is six months old at least, and there may have been recent developments that make it obsolete. Someone else may know something I don't, so I recommend a second or third opinion.

some of us in the last few classes got sent to cle by force, so if you want it you should probably be able to get it.

Ha! No worries, I was just busting chops anyway. If I were to point to anyone at JC for XJT dope, It'd be Bob.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I guess we will wait and see what I get at training. I don't care where I go but the wife was bugging me to ask about cleveland since most here family is back there!:nana2:

And CapnJim, I will give you some love and direct some questions your way.

Chicaga and Jim answered the questions wonderfully!

Jim is right in that there are ton's of us XJT'rs who want to help and will do what we can to answer any questions you or any new guys on board may have! :)

Good luck in class and welcome aboard!!

Bob

Small world! My first flight instructor who is a very good friend of mine now is starting with XJT June 4th as well! If ya want, I'll PM ya and let you know who he is. Might make a good study buddy. :)

Ooo! specialK, beware of shysters hawking 'special study guides' and 'checkride gouge' and the like. I've heard reports of many a dude shelling out cash for one of these things, only to find that the information is innacurate, outdated, and in any event already in the materials you have months before class.

Don't get lured by promise of quicker or better information, or subscribe to the groupthink mentality that sometimes develops in training situations. It's rubbish. The comany training materials are top notch, and all you need.

Besides, if you don't have any savings, you'll want to start pinching every penny from now until the end of your probationary year.

training is not that hard at all and like everyone says you dont need any study guides or gouge. i will say the written is pretty hard we had 8 fail that the first time, but everyone passed the second time. dont over work yourself, just go to class take some notes, study a little bit when you get home, and get a good nights rest. they make so just about anyone can pass, and if you need a little bit help they are more than happy to help you out. one last thing study in groups, and stay dont drink to much coffee. good luck

So how long is it currently taking between filling out the app and getting the email with the interview dates?

Thanks everyone for the info and support. I am really looking forward to starting with a great company and all the JC'ers that XJET has gobbled up:)

THEMARINE, I would PM you but i'm not sure how:confused: Once I find out how I will.

TIMMBUFF, It was a little over 3 weeks from applying online to getting the email, and then another 2 for the interview(which I made it 2 weeks for the interview but you can pick a sooner date if you wish)

To PM: click on his screenname, scroll down to "send private message" and rock and roll. It's just that easy.

:yeahthat: I'll go on record as one of them as well. :)

This is true. And last I heard, the questions in the exams and the oral have been changed a few classes after mine, so I hear....and the result was many folks either failing the systems written or passing the written with high scores and embarrassing themselves in the oral.

I will be on the alert for those "study guides." The stuff they give us will be plenty.

Ok, i figured out the PM thing and it was because of my own stupidity that I just now realized what the problem was:banghead:

yeah be careful about study guides and tests. in one of the jan classes a whole group of pple were let go for cheating on the systems written...
