WS Gear Collapse SXM

Interesting that this aircraft, line no 2802 (Feb 2009), was manufactured about two months after the Alaska Orange County aircraft, line no 2751 (Dec 2008). It was delivered the same day that the Colgan 3407 accident occurred.

Taken, Slumdog Millionaire, and Paul Blart Mall Cop topped the box office. Beyonce's Single Ladies was climbing the charts.

For trivia: I counted what I think was 149 people getting off the aircraft; some backpacks, but no rollerboards. It was a generally steady stream of people for exactly 10 minutes between the first person coming down the slide to the flight deck crew coming down.

Not sure why people would have these on the plane.

I still remember that day. I had just come out of the State theater in downtown Ann Arbor having watched Slumdog Millionaire with two friends, when I found out about Colgan 3407.

Rollaboard. Roll. Aboard.

<eye twitch>
Fun fact! Rollaboard® is a registered trademark of the Travelpro® company, and has been since 1991. "Rollerboard," a conspicuously similar-sounding compound word, is not. Ergo, nobody on television has ever used a Rollaboard® unless specifically noted otherwise, in much the same way they do not use Kleenex or sing the Happy Birthday song.

I may cut you.

I used “rollerboard” for two reasons:

1) It’s the better word. Although the etymology is sus, it’s easier to say and you know what I mean. Language history is full of this kind of thing.

2) You same people don’t get mad-enough when some casual butthole says “aircrafts,” so I’m gonna twist the blade a little after I stick ya. Hope we can find some common ground.

Anyway, I see that the MLG appears to be raked backwards just like the SNA incident. I suppose with aircraft weight plus torsion from wheel traction, the aft trunnion probably takes relatively more force. Though it looks like the failure happed right at touchdown, before there was any wheel brake application.

Hashed browns.

I will fight both of you.
