Can you imagine the Wright Brothers in 2011?

Wow, it might just be the strange speed of the film playback like most old movies seem to have, but that thing seems like it is teetering on the brink of a stall the entire time.
I'm surprised that the aircraft was able to take the camera's load considering it was doing all it could just to fly and climb under optimal conditions! WHen they tried to fly a replica at Oshkosh in 2004 Century of Flight celebration they couldn't even get the thing off the ground due to a lack of sufficient headwind.
 
That's awesome. I love the string attached to the elevator.

Those Wright boys were smart.
 
This is really cool. I just got done doing a speech about the Wright Brothers a week or two ago and I have to say I really enjoyed learning a lot more information about them that I didn't know previously. It is so impressive that they did the stuff they did with the technology that they had back in those days.

You're thinking of the original 1903 Wright Flyer. Wilbur was able to fly the 1909 model around the Statue of Liberty...with a red canoe attached to the bottom.
